Happy Monday, Friends! On today’s blog, I will be sharing with you a very whimsical and airy set of inspiration cards made with a “Double Gate & Floral” look using: Whimsical Blooms Washi and Whimsical Blooms Die from the latest October-2022 Washi Release by Pinkfresh Studio. Along with this set, I’ve also used Essentials: Lacey Edgers 1 Die Set, Essentials: Slim Stripes Die Set and Nested Circles Die to create the circle frames, detailed edges and the gold stripes. And, last but not least, Glitter Drops: Gold to add a pop of sparkle to each card from this set. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made them ↓
Therefore, for the first example, I started off by unrolling the Whimsical Blooms Washi and tape it down over a large piece of white cardstock. Next, I repeated this step 2 more times to have enough floral images to make both cards. Then, after getting the washi tape it down to the cardstock, I used the one piece coordinating Whimsical Blooms Die along with my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine to cut out the floral images from each piece of white cardstock piece just as, I have done it before with all Pinkfresh Studio Washi-tape Rolls.
Thus, after getting the die-cutting step completed, I proceeded to put the floral images aside and then, I went ahead to get the gate fold folding over a large piece of white cardstock. So, to do that, went ahead to use my Paper Trimmer to trim down vertically an 8-1/2 x 11.0 inches then, after getting it trim down, I proceeded to place it with the larger side horizontally over my Scoring Board to trace over it some scoring lines using a Teflon Bone Folder at 2-3/4 and 8-1/4 inches. Then, after getting the scoring lines traced down over the cardstock piece, I went ahead to fold them over inwards creating the gate folds. And once, I had that done, I proceeded to line up one of the dies including in Essentials: Lacey Edgers 1 Die Set on one of the edges from the gate folds to add them the die-cutting lacey edge. Then, I repeated the same step to the other edge.
Moving on, after adding the lacey edge to the open edges, I went ahead to get embellished each side of the gate fold opening using the small floral images. So, to do that, I went ahead to glue down the floral images on each side, as seen as in the image above and then, to cover their end up, I used a strip of gold cardstock; a die-cutting gold strip that I created by using gold cardstock and one of the dies from Essentials: Slim Stripes Die Set. Lastly, to finish the card off, I went ahead to create a belly band closure for the card so, to do that, I used the circle dies including in Nested Circles Die along with white and gold cardstock to create the layered circle. Next, I used one of the floral images and the card sentiment to get the layered circle embellished and lastly, a large piece of white cardstock with a 3/4 inches in width to finish off the belly band closure. By the way, for the card sentiment, I used one of the stamp images including in Whimsical Blooms Stamp along Metallic Embossing Powder- Gilded, Brutus Monroe Embossing Ink, and Wow Dual Speed Heat Tool for the stamping and gold heat embossing process. Although, I did get am exact measurement for the belly band, I will recommend you not to leave it neither too, tight nor too, loose.
So, for the second example, I made a quick and simple card, yet I added the detailed lacey edge to the front card panel and a little extra dimension to it as well. Thus, for the detailed edges, I used the same die I used in the previous example to add the lacey edge on the upper and lower side of an A2 size white card panel. Therefore, after adding the detailed edges to it, I went ahead to put it off aside to create a dimensional piece so, to do that, I went ahead to trim down a piece of white cardstock at H 4.0 x 4-3/4 inches.
Next, I placed the cardstock piece with the larger side horizontally to add some scoring lines at 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 4.0, 4-1/4, and 4-1/2 inches point marks. Then, I went ahead to fold over the scoring lines in a way to create a spring looking fold on each end from the cardstock piece. So, after getting that done, I went ahead to get the cardstock piece gluing down over an A2 size top folding white card base and, as soon as, I got that done, I proceeded to get the backing of the detailed white card panel adhered over it making it that way a little dimensional due the spring folds created on each end from cardstock piece. Having that said, to finish the card off, I went ahead to get the card front panel embellished using the large floral image and the die-cutting card sentiment plus, some of the Glitter Drops: Gold to add a pop of sparkle.
