Spellbinders September 2019 Eek-A-Boo Die of the Month Greeting Cards
Hey there, happy Sunday to you! It’s the first day of the month and you know what that means, yay! The new September 2019 Small Die of the Month by Spellbinders called Eek-A-Boo it’s here. So, on today’s blog, I’ll be sharing with you the two spooky cards that I’ve made to create these cool trick-or-treaters using this exclusive die. With that being said, please keep on reading the post. ↓
To begin with, I started by inking it up two Strathmore Bristol Smooth card panels with a combination of Distress Oxide Inks creating with them a dark spooky night for the card backgrounds (Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet, Seedless Preserves and, Black Soot) Once, the ink blending was done on both card panels, I splattered some water to reactive the inks creating the oxidized effect. Next, I quickly removed the excess of water with a paper towel and I set the card panels aside to dry.
In the meantime, I ran through the die-cutting machine every little die included in the September 2019 Small Die of the Month to die-cut the pieces so, I could build the little devil, the skeleton, the pumpkin and the ghost. As well as the Eek-a-boo! and boo! sentiments. By the way this is also included in the DOM set (Note; this step was optional but, I want to mention that, I die-cut each letter, dashes and exclamation mark 4X because, I wanted them to be sturdy so, they could resist the heat from the clear embossing that, I applied for a dimensional shiny look)
As, you can see, I used traditional colors however for their costumes. However, the possibilities are endless as you can create their costumes with a variety of color card stocks.
So…once all die-cuttings pieces were cut out of the color card stocks, I adhered each of them with liquid glue to build each of the trick-or-treaters and pumpkins. Right after that, I added some shiny dimension to each of them by clear heat embossing them with Embossing Ink and Clear Gloss Embossing Powder.
Lastly, I came back to the card panels at that point they were already dry so, I trimmed their edges down slightly smaller than a standard A2 size card and, I stamped three little bats in one of the card panels with Versafine Onyx Black and, I white heat embossed some little stars in the other card panel. I’ll be listing down below the stamps that I used for today’s blog.
Finally, to finish both card off, I adhered the backing of each card panel to their respective top folding white card bases that I had previously cut, scored and folded with double-sided tape. Then, I adhered the backing of each trick-or-treaters and pumpkins to them with foam mounting tape. As, for the letters, I adhered the backing of them to the cards with liquid glue. And, to complement the boO! sentiment, I white heat embossed a secondary sentiment in a piece of black card stock.
Yay! So, that’s all for today friends! I hope that I’ve inspired you to give these designs, and the Spellbinders Small Die of the Month a try!
