Spellbinders Glimmer Backgrounds Collection┃Rainbow/Butterfly Inspiration Cards
Happy Wednesday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’ll be sharing with you 2 “Rainbow/Butterfly” foiled cards that I made showcasing; Modern Lines Glimmer Hot Foil Plate, Twinkle Lights Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Rainbow from the Glimmer Backgrounds Collection by Spellbinders. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the step by step on how I made them ↓
To begin with, as usual I started by setting up on my Glimmer Hot Foil System Platform and Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine then, I turned the glimmer hot foil platform on, and while the platform was heating up, I’ve got lined up over a large white card panel the first background plate which in this case was Modern Lines Glimmer Hot Foil Plate. Once the card panel was lined up, I cut a piece of Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Rainbow with a pair of sharp scissor and once I had that done, I placed the foil over the card panel and I proceeded to get the first side of the card panel foiled. Right after when the first half of the card panel was foiled, I lined up the same background plate on the other side to continue the pattern, and I got the second half foiled as well with the same color foil. Therefore, after I’ve got the card panel foiled with the rainbow foil and the modern lines, I set it aside and I went ahead to get the second card panel foiled. However, this time instead of using the same plate and foil I replaced them by using Twinkle Lights Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Gold. So, after I was done getting the background panels foiled, I set them aside and I finished the foiled by foiling 2 rainbow butterflies and 2 gold butterflies plus, 2 hello sentiments. To create the sentiments and butterflies I used; Glimmering Butterflies Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set, Hello Dear Friend Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set and to keep it simple, I used the same foil colors that I used for the card panels. Lastly, after I got the foiling pieces done, I used their coordinated dies to die-cut them out of the cardstock.
Moving on, after I was done foiling I set every foiled piece aside and I ran through the die-cutting machine the frame dies that were included in the June-2020 Large Die of the Month to die-cut them out of gold cardstock. The set also includes dies to create flowers and sprigs so, I went ahead and I die-cut them out of white and gold cardstock.
Therefore, after I was done die-cutting the small pieces and frames I started the assembling for the cards so, to that I trimmed the edges off from the first card panel and I adhered the backing of it to an A2 top folding white card base with double-sided tape. Next, I stacked 2 of the largest gold frames and got them glued down with liquid glue to the card panel. Then, I mounted the hello sentiment with dimensional square adhesives to the right side of the frame and I glued down some of the white flowers in each side of the frame (as shown in the image above).
Once, I had the sentiment and flowers adhered to the frame, I created 2 cluster with the sprigs, and I’ve gotten them glue down on each side of the frame (as shown in the image). Lastly, to finish the assembling off, I carefully folded up the wings from the rainbow butterflies, and I glued the center of them with liquid glue over 2-white shadow die-cutting. I took this step because, I wanted to create a white shadow or base if you will, to have a sturdy dimension once I’ve got them mounted over the frame. Finally, as finishing touches I glued down with liquid glue gold jewels in the center of each of the flowers for an extra touch of shine.
For the second example, I trimmed the edges off from the second foiled card panel and I adhered the backing of it to an A2 side folding white card base as, I was going to create a landscaping design.
So, right after I was done adhering the card panel to the card base, I glued down with liquid glue the frame and the clusters that I had created with the die-cutting sprigs. Then, I mounted the hello sentiment and the gold butterflies, and last but certainly not least to finish it off, I glued down here and there with liquid glue some of the gold jewels to add even more shine.
So, that’s pretty much it! Here, in the image above you can take a closer of the patterns created by the Modern Lines Glimmer Hot Foil Plate, Twinkle Lights Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Rainbow. Plus, you can take a closer look to appreciate the result added by the dimension, shine and the rainbow colors.
