Spellbinders February 2020 Glimmer Hot Foil Kit
Happy February, Friends! On today’s blog, I’ll be sharing with you these 2 super shiny cards that, I’ve created featuring the new February’s Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month Club by Spellbinders. As, this is my first blog post using this kit, I’d like to give you a little information about the special promotion that Spellbinders is running with this Club: Join Now and Save 10% Off when you purchase the Glimmer Hot Foil System! *You may add the system at the time of subscription. So, with that being said, let’s jump into today’s blog post ↓
For the first example, I started by tapping down on a clipboard a large piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock. Once I had that done, I placed over a heavy weight white card panel the 3 dies included in the kit, and I ran them through the Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. Right after, I took the negative pieces out and I used the positive as a stencil to do a simple water coloring.
For the water coloring, I used the soft color brush markers from my Mermaid Markers ArtEssentials set. So, I placed the stencil that I created, and I added a touch of color only to one side of each circle. Then, with a brush and a touch of water, I distributed the color around the circle for a very soft watercolor look. Right after when I was done water coloring the circles, I set the card panel aside to let it dry. In the meantime, I tuned on the Glimmer Hot Foil Platform because, I was going to foil over the water coloring card panel. So, while the platform was heating up, I ran once again the dies to die-cut a few circles for the second example which you’ll see below.
By the time that I was done die-cutting the circles my platform was ready to foil so, I placed one of the glimmer hot foil plates included in the kit over it, and I cut a piece larger enough to cover the plate (by the way, the foil that I used is also included in this month’s kit.) Once, I added the foil to the glimmer foil plate, I placed over it the water colored card panel and I turned the timer on. When the timer stopped flashing, I ran the platform through the die-cutting machine to transfer the foil to the card panel. Next, I repeated this step 3 more times, right after the 3rd time, I removed the plate from the platform and I placed the Thank you plate from the Thank You Combo Glimmer Hot Foil Plate to foil the sentiment that I was going to use for this card. Lastly, after the sentiment was foiled, I trimmed the edges off and I adhered it to a piece of gold cardstock because, I wanted to a dd a gold frame to it. To finish the card off, I trimmed the card panel slightly smaller than the card base and I adhered a skinny strip of gold cardstock to the left side. Right after that, I foam mounted it to an A2 top folding white card base. As for the sentiment, I foam mounted it to the bottom left side of the card as shown above.
For the second example, I water colored the die-cutting circles that previously created at the beginning of the foiling process.
As you can see in the image above, I only foiled 3 of them and the other, I left them as is. So, after all die-cutting circles were ready, I started the assembling for this card. To do that first; I foam mounted a slightly smaller white card panel to an A2 white top folding card base. Second; I layered the die-cutting circles over the card panel, and I adhered them with liquid glue to it. Soon after that, I set the card base aside and I went ahead to die-cut the love out gold cardstock.
For the love die-cutting sentiment, I used Spellbinders’ January 2020 Die of the Month. So, I die-cut the letters 1X out fun foam for dimension and 1X out gold cardstock. Once the die-cutting letters were done, I stacked them all and I adhered them with liquid glue to the card.
You can see the dimension created from the fun foam in the images above.
To finish the cards off, I adhered a gold foiled heart that I had in my stash along with a few crystal sequins here and there to add a touch of sparkle to them and right after that, today’s cards were completed.
