Spellbinders Art Studio Botanicals FEB20-DOM Cards

Hello, Friends! I hope you’re having a fabulous Sunday, on today’s blog, I’ll be sharing with how I’ve made these botanical cards featuring the new; ‘‘Art Studio Botanicals’’ February’s small Die of the Month by Spellbinders. Seriously, Spellbinders kits are getting better and better and this month’s kit isn’t an exception. Although, I kept it simple by water-coloring the background for the middle layer on the die-cutting circles, next time, I’d try to use patterned paper as, I’d like to think that, it’ll looked great, if I had used patterned paper too. So, with that being said, let’s jump into today’s blog post ↓

To begin with, I made a quick water-coloring on a large piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock using; Pink, Orange and Yellow hues from my Mermaid Markers ArtEssentials brush markers. Once, I had the water-coloring piece done, I set it aside to dry. In the meanwhile, I ran thought the Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine the circle die from the kit to die-cut it 6X out gold cardstock. Next, I placed in the center of the circle die each die with the botanical leaves, and I die-cut them 2X each out of white cardstock.

Lastly, I placed the circle rim over the water-colored background along with the pattern dies, and I die-cut the patterns 2X each same as I did with the botanical dies. Right after I had all die-cutting pieces done, I used the die-cutting machine once again, but this time to dry emboss 2 white card panels. With all my pieces done, I started to assemble the first card so, to do that, I stacked 3 die-cuttings circles and I adhered them with liquid glue to the first dry embossed card panel (as shown in the images above) Then, I trimmed off the edges from the card panel as usual, and I foam mounted it to an A2 top folding white card base.

For the second card, I stacked the other 3 die-cutting circles, and I adhered them with liquid glue to the second dry embossed card panel in landscape way (as shown in the picture above) Then, I trimmed off the edges from the card panel as usual. As, you can see by doing it that way, I ended up having a full circle in the middle and about 3/4 of the circle on each side of the card panel. Once, I had that done, I foam mounted the circle to an A2 side folding white card base.

Finally, to finish the cards off, I trimmed 2 sentiments out from my SSS Sentiment Strips Sheets and I adhered each of them with foam mounting tape to each card.

For the final touches, I adhered a few sequins here and there to each card to add an extra touch of sparkle. With being said that’s all for today, I hope these cards inspire you to give them a try!
