Making A Set of Greeting Cards out of Washi Tape

Making A Set of Greeting Cards out of Washi Tape

Happy Sunday friends! Today, I’d like to share with you a beautiful set of eight cards that I’ve made out of various die-cutting elements from the Painted Floral Washi Tape yes!!! Die-cuttings that I created using the Floral Element Die Set isn’t that great??? This set by Pinkfresh Studio was created to perfectly coordinate with the washi tape and the Floral Elements Stamp Set however for today’s examples I didn’t use the stamp set but I wanted to mention that there’s also a coordinated stamp for the die set also, by Pinkfresh Studio So, without further ado let’s jump into the post. ↓

To begin with, I started by adhering the washi tape to a few A2 size white card panels. The washi tape roll has 3 designs to choose from so, for the first two cards shown in the picture above I used the largest design which happens to be this beautiful floral cluster with a water coloring look. To create the floral clusters, I ran through the die-cutting machine each of the card panel along with the Floral Cluster Die which is the coordinated die for the largest floral cluster from the washi designs.

Once, I was done with the die-cuttings I created the card panels. For the first card panel, I adhered in a white card panel one of the designs from the Adorable Frames Washi Tape. Then, I slightly trimmed the edges of it, and I adhered the backing of the card panel to an A2 top folding white card base. For the second card, I used one of the patterns from the Just a Little Lovely 6X6 paper pack as the card panel, and I adhered the backing of the card panel to an A2 top folding white card base. Right afterwards, I adhered the backing of the floral clusters to the card each of the card panels with 3M Foam Tape to add dimension. Lastly, to finish the cards off, I gold heat embossed a sentiment from the You've Got this Stamp Set with Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powder twice. One on a piece of white card stock, and the second in a piece of vellum, and I adhered each of the sentiments to the cards as you can see in the picture above.
To give a bit of shine to one of the cards, I adhered sparkly jewels to each of the center of the flowers. (I hope you can see the difference in between them.)

For the following three cards, I started by creating the card panels for the cards so, I trimmed two of the patterned papers from the Just a Little Lovely 6X6 paper pack.

So, for the first card I left trimmed one of the patterned papers a little bit smaller than and A2 size card base, and I adhered the backing of it to a top folding white card base with double-sided tape. Next, I ran through the die-cutting machine a white card panel along with Braided Tag Die Set to create the focal point of the card. In the meantime, I also ran through the die-cutting machine the two card panels that I had from the washi tape with the design that had various floral elements along with their coordinated die elements to create the floral die-cuttings. Once the die-cuttings were done, I gold heat embossed a sentiment from the You've Got this Stamp Set with Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powder on the top side of the tag right after the heat embossing, I wrapped around a piece of Hemp Twine Cord which I finished with a tied bow. Lastly, I adhered the backing of the tag to the card panel with double-sided tape, and I adhered some of the floral elements on the bottom part of the tag. To create dimension, I adhered some of the floral elements with liquid glue, and some with 3M Foam Tape.

For the second card, I trimmed one of the pattern paper from the same paper pack. However, as you can see in the picture above, I gave the card panel a little bit of a distress look by ripping the bottom and top, and by using the DISTRESSER Altered Aged Edges tool to distress the other two edges of the card panel. Once, all the edges were distressed I adhered the card panel to an A2 size white card base with double-sided tape. Next, I ran through the die-cutting machine the Braided Circles Die Set to die-cut it out of white card stock. Right after, I gold heat embossed a sentiment from the Scripted Bold Sentiments 1 with Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powder, and I adhered the backing of the circle to the center of the card panel with 3M Foam Tape. Lastly, to finish the card off, I adhered in the top and lower sides of the circle with liquid and dimensional circles some of the floral elements that I had previously die-cut from the washi tape.

For the third card, I adhered a leftover piece of the patterned paper that I used from the previous card directly to an A2 size top folding white card base with double-sided tape, and I set is aside. In the meantime, I ran through the die-cutting machine the Braided Oval Die Set to die-cut it out of white card stock. Next, I gold heat embossed in the center of the oval a combination of sentiments from the You've Got this Stamp Set with Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powder, and right after the heat embossing, I adhered the backing of the oval with 3M Foam Tape to the card panel. Finally, to finish the card off I adhered in the top and lower sides of the oval with liquid and dimensional circles some of the floral elements that I had previously die-cut from the washi tape in the same as I did in the previous card.

For the last three cards, I used the second largest design from the washi tape that happens to be a beautiful flora wreath as you can in the picture shown above.

So, to begin with I started by running through the die-cutting machine the card panels with the wreath designs along with the coordinated die from the Floral Element Die Set. In the meantime, I also ran twice through the die-cutting machine the die with pieces of fun foam as, I wanted to create a solid dimension for the wreaths by adhering the fun foam to the backing of each of the wreaths. Then, for the first card I used one of the patterned paper from the Just a Little Lovely 6X6 paper pack which, I trimmed the edges a little bit smaller than the card base, and adhered the backing of it with double-sided tape to an A2 size top folding white card base. Lastly. I adhered the backing of the wreath right in the center of the card, and as the sentiment I ran through the die-cutting machine the Smile Die to die-cut it out of gold card stock which right after when I was done die-cutting it, I adhered it right in the center of the wreath with liquid glue as you can see in the picture above.

For the second card out of the last three cards, I created my very own card panel by adhering strips of leftover pattern paper, and washi tape with double-sided tape on top of a white card panel. As, they’re from the same collection it wasn’t that hard to blend in the strips one to another as you can see in the picture above. Right after when I was done adhering the strips to the card panel, I trimmed the edges of the card panel a little bit smaller than the card base, and I adhered the backing of it to an A2 size top folding white card base. Lastly, I decided to gold heat emboss a sentiment from the Folk Hummingbird Stamp set with Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powder right in the center of the wreath, and to finish the card off, I adhered the backing of the wreath right in the center of the card.

Finally, for the last card out of the tree and the last card for this blog post. I used the rest of the floral element die-cutting that I leftover. So, to create the card panel, I used one of the card panels that I had from the Adorable Frames Washi Tape which, I ran through the die-cutting machine along with the Hello shadow layer die from the Classic Words Die Set to die-cut the center of the card panel as I wanted to inlay back in by adding some dimension as you can see in the picture above. So, in the meantime I also ran through the die-cutting machine the layer from the Hello to die-cut it out of fun foam, and I ran through the die-cutting machine the top layer of the Hello die to die-cut it out of gold card stock. Once all the die-cuttings were done, I trimmed the edges of the card panel and I adhered the backing of it to an A2 size top folding white card base with double-sided tape, and I inlaid the hello shadow layer along with its top layer right into its place. To finish the card off like I mentioned earlier, I adhered with liquid and dimensional circles the rest of the floral die-cutting elements that I had in two of the corner of the frame design as you can see in the picture above.

So, that’s all for today friends! I know this post was a little bit longer than usual but, I hope these cards inspire you to give these designs a try! As I think this is just a genius idea to make card out of washi tape designs.
