Happy Friday, crafty friends! Today, I’m honored to share with you my first set of “Holiday-Floral” cards made with Candy Stripe Background Stamp, Fresh Cut Florals Dies Edition 4, Peace on Earth Bundle and Ink Cubes Bundle as one of September’s Guest Designer for Concord&9th. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step by step on how I’ve made them ↓
To begin with, I started by lining up the dies included in Fresh Cut Florals Dies Edition 4 over a Strathmore Watercolor Panel. Then, right after that I’ve them lined up, I went ahead to run them thorough my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. Once, I’ve had them die-cut, I carefully place the card panel over my Make Art Mini Stay-Tion All-in-One Magnetic Surface without popping the pieces out from the card panel and so on and so forth, I repeated this step 2 more times because, I wanted a few petals to create a fuller looking poinsettia and foliage.
Therefore, after I had the die-cutting pieces over my magnetic surface, I went ahead to messy-watercolor them using a combination of non-traditional soft colors. So, for the water-coloring I’ve used Ballet Slipper, Grapefruit, Sorbet, Parsley and Sea Glass inks all included in the Ink Cubes Bundle. That said, after I’ve done water-coloring the die-cut pieces, I’ve set them aside to let them air dry but, in the meanwhile I went ahead to quickly add a wash of color to a watercolor card panel which I was planning to use as the background for the card. Thus, the color I’ve used for that was Sea Glass and lot of water to soften it down.
Lastly, after all my die-cutting pieces and background were completely dry, I went ahead to start the assembling for the card so to do that, I started by trimming down the water-colored card panel slightly smaller than the card base. Then, I went ahead to get the backing adhered with double-sided tape to an A2 top folding white card base. Next, I put together 2 large poinsettia and a small poinsettia by gluing them down with liquid glue and once I’ve had that step done, I glued down with liquid glue the foliage over the card panel (as shown in the image above) last but not least, I glued down the poinsettias that I’ve had previously put together creating that way a Holiday Floral and very dimensional cluster. Therefore, to finish the card off I placed it inside my MISTI tool to get a sentiment gold heated emboss it in the lower right side of the card. And, finally as finishing touches, I went ahead to glue down here and there small flowers including the center of the poinsettias which I’ve had skipped as well a combination of small jewels which by the way complimented perfectly with the colors of the inks.
Moving on, for the second example I kept it simple by using the same color combination however, instead of water-coloring I’ve used the inks to stamp the beautiful elements from Peace on Earth Bundle so therefore, to make this card first, I’ve traced and masked a circle in the center of the card panel which measured about 3-1/2 inches. Second, I placed the card panel inside my MISTI and I lined up over it the Candy Stripe Background Stamp. Once, both were lined up, I prepped the card panel with embossing tool and then, I went ahead to stamp the images over the card panel with embossing ink. Last but not least after the stamping, I removed the card panel from the stamping tool, and I went ahead to white heat embossed it with white embossing powder and my heat embossing gun tool. So, after I’ve had white heat embossed the card panel, I removed the masking circle and I went ahead to place inside the circle the largest Peace on Earth sentiment which right afterwards I’ve gotten it gold heat emboss.
Once, I’ve had the sentiment heated emboss, I went ahead to trim the edges down from it and I adhered the backing of it with double-sided tape to an A2 top folding white card base. Then, I started to glue down with liquid glue the floral elements which I’ve had previously stamp over a white card panel using Ballet Slipper, Grapefruit, Parsley, Sea Glass and Dove inks and die-cut with their coordinated dies. As you can see, after I was done gluing them down, I ended up basically with a very dimensional wreath. To add the dimension, I went ahead to curl the tip from the poinsettias up using the stylus tip from my Tool ‘n One, and to add even more dimension I stacked 2 of them together.
Finally, to balance the sparkle out I went ahead to glue down with liquid glue here and there around the wreath the same combination of jewels that I used on the previous example. I hope you can appreciate the dimension and the difference between the stamping and water-coloring from both cards, also the texture added from the white on white heat embossing.
With that being said, I hope you have enjoyed reading the step by step on how I’ve created my first set of “Holiday-Floral” cards as one of September’s Guest Designer for Concord&9th.
