SSS Sunny Days Ahead Release┃Congrats Grad! Inspiration Card
YAY!!! Happy day, Friends! It’s Simon Says Stamp -‘Sunny Days Ahead Release so, today I’ll be sharing with you this Slimline “Congrats, Grad!” card that, I’ve created with the new; Hats Off Grad Stamp Set. So, without further ado let’s jump to the step by step on how-to-make this card ↓
To begin with, I started by placing a card panel that measured H 8-3/4’’ X W 3-3/4’’ inside my stamping tool. Then, I placed right on the lower edge of the card panel the image with the arms and gown sleeves, and I stamped them with Detail Black Ink.
Right after that, I removed the first stamp image, and I left about 3/4’’ of an inch of space to stamp the sentiment. For the sentiment, I placed the larger sentiment right in the center and I offset a bit to the right the sub-sentiment (as shown in the image above)
Then, I removed the sentiment stamps, and I placed over the card panel the graduation caps stamp image and I’ve got them stamped with black ink, leaving 1/4’’ of an inch space. Lastly, to finish the stamping off, I stamped the confetti here and there using an acrylic block. Therefore, after I had the stamping for the card panel done, I set it aside to let the ink dry.
Meanwhile, the stamp set includes 2 Diploma images so, I’ve got them stamp on large piece of Strathmore 300 Series Smooth Bristol Paper with black ink as well.
So, after all my stamping images were completely dry, I started the water-coloring. For the water-coloring, I used a mix of 3 Blue hues to color the Caps and Gown Sleeves in. Silver, Blue to color the Tassels in and Silver, Blue Gold hues to color in the Confetti. And, 6 Skin hues to color the Arms in.
As for the Diplomas, I colored them in with Yellow hues with a touch of Gold. So, after I had the water-coloring done, I set them aside to dry. So, in the meantime I created the slimline white card base out of white cardstock (H 9.0’’x W 4.0’’)
Then, to add the glitter frame to it, I mounted it to the card base with craft foam and double-sided tape which, I had trimmed down out of Glitter Gold cardstock (W 3-5/8’’ X H 8-5/8’’)
Moving on, for the clouds I used a combination of the following distress oxide inks; Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, and Cloud Mixables Stencil. Therefore, after creating the clouds, I trimmed down the card panel slightly smaller than the glitter gold card panel, and I adhered it down with double-sided tape to the card. Lastly, I fussy cut the Diplomas out of the cardstock with a sharp scissor and glued them down to their hands.
QUICK TIP: Because, I wanted to add dimension instead of masking their hands, I carefully cut around the finger from the 1st, 3rd and 5th image with an Xacto Knife to insert the diplomas creating that way a realistic dimensional look just like, if they were actually holding or lifting them up.
Finally, as finishing touches, I added Glossy Accent to the Tassels, Diplomas and each of the Confetti for an extra shiny and dimensional look. Then, I glued down with liquid glue tiny gold stars and I covered the Caps and Gowns Sleeves with Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen to add even more shine.
