Spellbinders Yana's Bloom Collection┃Birthday and Thanks Inspiration Cards

Happy Thursday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you a very delicate and elegant set of “Thanks & Birthday” inspiration cards made showcasing the latest Yana’s Blooms Collection which includes Magnolia Blooms Etched Dies, Yana's Layered Script Sentiments Etched Dies, Magnolia Glimmer Blooms Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set, Diagonal Glimmer Stripes Glimmer Hot Foil Plate, Splatter Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate, Magnolia Bouquet Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set, and Geo Foliage Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made them ↓

Therefore, I’d like to start by mentioning that this set of cards has lots and lots of hot foil stamping, so as per usual when I make cards using the hot foil stamping technique, I started off by setting up my Glimmer Hot Foil System Platform and Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine over my Crafter's Essential Cutting and Alignment Mat. And, once I had that step completed, I went ahead to turn on the glimmer hot foil platform, and while my platform was heating up, I went ahead to line up over the center of an A2 size white card panel the magnolia cluster glimmer plate including in Magnolia Glimmer Blooms Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set. And, as soon as I had the glimmer plate line up over the white cardstock piece, I went ahead to cut a large piece of Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Polished Brass using my Quick Trimmer. Thus, after getting the hot foil stamping done for the magnolia cluster, I went ahead to add the splatter hot foil stamping as well using the glimmer splatter plates including Splatter Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate.

Next, right after I had that step done, I went ahead to add a pop of color to the magnolias and then I used its coordinating die to cut out the cluster from the card panel because, I wanted to inlay it back into place by adding dimension to it before doing that. Having that said, I went ahead to trim off the edges of the card panel a little bit smaller than the card base and then, I went ahead to get the backing of the card panel adhered over an A2 size side folding white card base using double-sided adhesive. Then, I inlaid backing the magnolia cluster over it, and last but not least, I’ve got glued down the card sentiment over the floral cluster. A card sentiment which I’ve had previously created using the Thanks layering dies including in Yana's Layered Script Sentiments Etched Dies. Finally, to finish the card off, I added some clear sequins to add an extra pop of shine to the card.

For the second example, I went ahead to use the glimmer plate that creates the solid hot foil stamping frame, so to do that, I used the frame glimmer plate including in Splatter Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate. Therefore, after getting the hot foil stamping done for the frame, I went ahead to trim off the edges of the card panel and then, I’ve got mounted the backing of it with craft foam adhesive to an A2 size top folding white card base.

After getting the front card panel mounted over the card base, I went ahead to mount in the upper side of the card the layered Happy Birthday card sentiment, a sentiment which I’ve had created also using the dies including in Yana's Layered Script Sentiments Etched Dies. Next, I went ahead to mount in the lower side of the card, the hot foil stamped greenery, greenery which I’ve gotten previously hot foil stamped over a large piece of white cardstock and cut out from it using their coordinating dies. By the way, for the greenery I used the glimmer plates and their coordinating dies including in Geo Foliage Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set. Thus, right after that I’ve got mounted the greenery using square foam adhesives to add dimension to them, I went ahead to finish the card off by gluing down some clear sequins to add an extra pop of shine to the card as well.

For the third example, I went ahead to use the glimmer plates and dies including in Magnolia Bouquet Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set to create a dimensional cluster in the upper right side of the card. The magnolias are white with touches of pink, however I decided to add an extra pop of color to them for a little contrast, so I went ahead to use pinks and coral hues to color them in. As for the leaves, I could have added color to them, but I decided to leave them as it is for a much cleaner look.

And, to keep it simpler and cleaner, I decided to get the hot foil stamping for the card sentiment directly over the card panel, so to do that, I used the large Birthday glimmer plate and the small Happy glimmer plate from the Splatter Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate creating with them the card sentiment. Having that being said, after adding the hot foil stamped sentiment and getting the bouquet mounted over the front card panel, I went ahead to get the backing of the card panel mounted over and A2 size side folding white card base and then, I glued down here and there some gold jewels to the card just to add an extra pop sparkle to it.

For the fourth example, I created a much more dimensional design, so to do that, I went ahead to add texture to the pink card panel using the top layer die including in Magnolia Blooms Etched Dies. Next, as soon as I’ve had finished adding the texture to it, I went ahead to trim down the edges of the card panel and then, I’ve got it mounted with craft foam to an A2 size top folding white card base.

Therefore, after getting the card panel mounted over its card base, I went ahead to add a geometric touch to the design using the glimmer plate and its coordinating die including in Geo Foliage Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set. As you can see in the image above it’s a very dainty frame, so I carefully got it mounted over the card using narrow pieces of craft foam adhesive.

For the floral touch, I used once again the die including in Magnolia Blooms Etched Dies, but this time to cut out the outlined image from dark pink and gold cardstock. Moving on, after getting the die-cutting process finished, I went ahead to layer them over the geometrical frame and then, I’ve got the card sentiments mounted over it. As for the card sentiments, I used the Thanks glimmer plate along with its coordinating die and the For Your Friendship glimmer plate both including in Splatter Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate. Lastly, to finish the card off, I went ahead to glue down here and there some Metallic Pearls -Gold to make the gold pop even more.

For the fifth and last example, I went ahead to use both dies including in Magnolia Blooms Etched Dies to cut out the shadow layer out of gold cardstock and the top layer from white cardstock. Having that said, I went ahead to pop out the positive white pieces from the white die-cutting cluster and then, I carefully got the leaves ink up with green ink using a small ink blending brush. Next, I inked up the magnolia’s center using orange ink and a small ink blending brush as well. Lastly, right after I had finished doing that, I’ve gone ahead to layer the inked die-cutting cluster to the shadow layer using craft foam adhesive to add dimension to it and then, I went ahead to inlay to it the pink die-cutting pieces that I had left-over from the previous example.

Soon after that I had finished inlaying the pieces to the layered magnolia cluster, I went ahead to set it off to the side to get the card assembling started. Thus, I went ahead to trim off the edges of a card panel on which I’ve had previously added the hot foil stamping using Diagonal Glimmer Stripes Glimmer Hot Foil Plate. Next, I got the backing of it adhered to an A2 size side folding white card base and then, I’ve got the dimensional magnolia cluster glue down over it. Lastly, I went ahead to mount the layered Birthday sentiment and the smaller Happy sentiment as well. And, to finish the card off, I went ahead to add even more gold to the card by gluing down here and there some of the gold jewels that I used in the previous example.

And, with that being said friends, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the step-by-step for how I’ve made this very delicate and elegant set of “Thanks & Birthday” inspiration cards showcasing the latest Yana’s Blooms Collection by Spellbinders.
