Spellbinders Slimline Collection ┃Inspiration Cards

Happy Thursday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you a very colorful set of 4 slimline cards made showcasing the latest Slimline Collection by Spellbinders. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how-to-make these super fun slimline cards.

Blossoming Slimline Birthday Card

This newly slimline collection includes a full array of slimline die sets, glimmer plates, a stamp set, a fabulous floral die set and a delicate slimline embossing folder so therefore, for the first example I would like to start by sharing with you how-to-make this slimline birthday card using Blossoming Slimline Etched Dies and the paper piecing technique. Thus, start by lining up the largest slimline die from the set over a large piece of white cardstock and then, run them through your Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. Next, I used your Tool ‘n One to puck the negative pieces out of it.

Next, repeat the same step to die-cut the detailed slimline frame 4 more times out light and dark pink cardstock, as well as orange and green cardstock for the paper piecing technique. Once, the die-cutting is completed, go ahead, and get the detailed die-cutting frame glue down with liquid glue over a slimline white card panel. Next, start the paper piecing by inlaying over the detailed frame the flowers and leaves pieces and once you’ve got that done, go ahead and adhere using double-sided tape the backing of the card panel to a larger gold cardstock panel to add a gold border to it.

Lastly, go ahead and mount the card panel over a slimline white card base using craft foam tape to add dimension and then, go ahead and pop-up with foam square adhesives a glimmer foiled sentiment right in the center of the card. By the way, for this card I used the die included in the set to die-cut the sentiment and one of the glimmer sentiment plates including in Essential Glimmer Sentiments from this collection plus, Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Gold, Quick Trimmer and of course the Glimmer Hot Foil System Platform.

Dry Embossing Floral + Mini Blooms Slimline Thanks Card

As I mentioned in the beginning of the post, this collection includes this delicate Slimline Floral Embossing Folder so therefore, start by following the instructions from your die-cutting machine to create the dry embossing impression over a slimline white card panel. And then, go ahead and trim ff the edges of it and adhere the backing of it with double-sided tape to a larger gold card panel to add a thin gold border to it.

Next, proceed to adhere the backing of the card panel with double-sided tape to a slimline white card base and then, start the embellishing for it. As for the embellishing, go ahead and die cut a bunch of flowers and leaves out of different color cardstock using the dies including in the Mini Blooms and Sprigs Etched Dies set.

Lastly, after finishing the die-cutting for the flowers and leaves, go ahead to assemble the flowers and then go ahead and create a full floral cluster using them as your focal point. For this example, I decided to create a dimensional floral cluster which I mounted over the right side of the card for a simpler look however, if you don’t like much white space on your cards you can be more creative and spread more flowers around the card background. That said, to finish the card off go ahead and mount a glimmer foiled sentiment using the same glimmer set from the previous example or a stamped and heat embossing sentiment using one of the sentiments including in the Essential Sentiments Clear Stamp Set.

Classic Slimline For You Card

Before we move on into the details for the third example, I’d like to mention that all slimline frame dies including in this collection has their solid layer die which in this case with this specific design can also be use as a dainty shaped card but if not, their solid dies can be combine to dd details to the other designs just like I did in this case using, the solid die from Flowering Slimline Etched Dies to add the detailed corners in the plain white background panel. That being said, let’s get into the details.

Thus, line up over a large piece of white cardstock the solid die from Flowering Slimline Etched Dies and then run them through the die-cutting machine. Next, go ahead and adhere the backing of the card panel with double-sided tape to a slimline white card base. Right after that, go ahead and line up the solid die from Classic Slimline Etched Dies over a large piece of white cardstock to die-cut the base and then, go ahead and line up over another large piece of white cardstock the detailed die from the same set and run them through the die-cutting machine. Lastly, line up the same detailed die over a large piece of gold cardstock and run them as well through the die-cutting machine.

So, after having the die-cutting frames finish, remove the negative pieces out of them using your Tool ‘n One and then, stack both a bit offset to the right to add a gold shadow to it and last but not least mount the detailed and stacked frame to the card base. As for the sentiment, use the dies including in the set to create a dimensional For You sentiment out of white and gold cardstock and then, mount it over with foam square adhesives in the center of the card. As embellishments, you can leave it as simple as white and gold or you can take a step further by mounting 2 small cluster on each side from the sentiment as I did for this example using flowers and leaves created using once again the awesome Mini Blooms and Sprigs Etched Dies.

Glimmer Confetti Slimline ▏ Birthday Card

This stunning collection has everything you can think of so therefore, if you die-cutting is not much your thing, foiling can also help you to create clean and simple yet delicate and elegant cards using the festive Slimline Confetti Background which also includes the Happy Birthday glimmer plate sentiment used on this example.

Therefore, if you’re familiar building glimmer hot foiling backgrounds this glimmer plate works in the same way as the others. So, go ahead and line up the plate on one side of a slimline white card panel size and then, go ahead and trim off a piece of Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Gold using your Quick Trimmer. Then, get the foiling done using your Glimmer Hot Foil System Platform and Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. Once, you’re done foiling the first side of the card panel, go ahead and repeat the same steps on the other side of it. Lastly, after finishing the foiling over the card panel, go ahead and line up the sentiment plate in the center and go ahead to get it foiled using the same gold foil color.

Finally, to make it simple line up over the foiled card panel one of the solid dies from the other sets including in the collection to perfectly die-cut the background for the card and then get the slimline foiled card panel mounted with craft foam tape over a slimline white card base to add extra dimension. Then, to add a pop of color, go ahead and pop-over a dimensional flower on each side of the sentiment.

You can appreciate in the image above how beautifully each card looks side by side. So, after finishing each of the slimline cards go ahead and finish them off by gluing down here and there with liquid glue a combination of jewels to add a touch of sparkle! With that being said, I hope that you’ve enjoyed learning about how-to-make this set of 4 slimline cards showcasing the latest Slimline Collection by Spellbinders.
