Spellbinders DOML OCT-2022┃Inspiration Card

Happy Saturday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you a very dimensional holiday inspiration card made with a “Shadow Box” look showcasing: OCT-2022 "Stitched Ornament Display" Large Die of the Month Club by Spellbinders. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step on how I made it ↓

Therefore, to create the shadow box effect first, I went ahead to create the base so, to do that, I went ahead to cut from white cardstock four equal die-cutting pieces for the upper and lower parts of the card base using, one of the dies included in the club along with the Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. Next, I used the insert die to cut out the rounded parts for the die-cutting pieces and then, I proceeded to fold over each of the scoring lines on each side from die-cutting pieces. By the way, the die also add those scoring lines at the same time that does the die-cutting process.

Thus, after getting the die-cutting and scoring process completed for the die-cutting pieces, I went ahead to put them off aside to proceeded with the die-cutting for the poinsettias and greenery. Plus, the die-cutting steps for the stitching ornament and the rest of its embellishment pieces.

That being said, once I had completed the die-cutting step for all die-cutting pieces, I had gone ahead to get the card assembling started. But first, I would like to start by mentioning that you don’t actually need all four die-cutting pieces if you don’t want to create this project extra dimensional as, I have done it on mine. That being said, I proceeded to glue down one of the die-cutting pieces on top of the other and then, I repeated the same step for the other two pieces. In a way which, you can see in the image above.

Moving on, after getting both dimensional pieces attached for the upper and lower part of the base, I went ahead to get them adhered to a textured white card panel; textured white card panel that I had previously created using white cardstock and Knock on Wood 3D Embossing Folder. As a result, after getting them adhered to the textured card panel in the image above, you can see how dimensional this project is.

Thereafter, I went ahead to attach the smaller and dimensional pieces that support the top and bottom parts.

These pieces are two layered die-cutting pieces, and the ends of the bottom pieces go under the front parts of the dimensional pieces to hold up everything together. I hope this doesn’t sound too, confusing for you. Therefore, after getting those pieces attached, I moved on to add the stitching step to the ornament and to get it embellished buy gluing down over it the rest of the die-cutting pieces.

From there, after getting the ornament embellished, I also went ahead to add a little interaction effect to the card by pierce a small whole in the center of the upper dimensional effect using the pierce tip from the Tool ‘n One. Then, I used a small paper fastener to attach and secure the die-cutting string for the ornament. By doing that step, I was able to add a little interaction as, the ornament can swing from side to side. This is another unnecessary step however, is always fun to add a little extra effect to your cards, isn’t it!?

Then, after getting the ornament’s string into place, I went ahead to glue down he ornament but making sure I had it gluing down right in the center of the card opening window just like, you can see it in the image above. And right after that, I proceeded to get the smaller holiday bloom clusters mounted in the upper and lower center of the card.

And, here is a closer look for how those holiday bloom cluster look on the card. Also, after getting them gluing down, I went ahead to glue down some jewels to the ornament and then, I added Glossy Accent to the berries to add extra touches of shine to them.

Lastly, to finish this dimensional project off, I went ahead to add the Merry Christmas greeting in the center of the ornament and then, to add more stability to the shadow box looking card, I got the backing of it adhered to another white card panel but this time, I used heavy weight cardstock. By the way before I forget, I would like to mention that this is a 5x7 inches with 2 inches in width size project. Also, in case you wonder, for the card sentiment, I used one of the sentiments included in this month’s Clear Stamp & Die of the Month Club.

And, with that being said friends, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the step-by-step for how I’ve made this dimensional holiday inspiration card with a “Shadow Box” look showcasing: OCT-2022 "Stitched Ornament Display" Large Die of the Month Club by Spellbinders.
