Spellbinders DOML MAR-2023┃Inspiration Card

Happy Sunday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share a delicate, dimensional inspirational card with a “Pop-Up” look showcasing the latest: "Flowering Tree & Collapsible Card Base" MAR-2023 Large Die of the Month Club and the add-on Flowering Tree Sentiments Etched Die Set by Spellbinders. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the step-by-step on how I made it ↓

Therefore, I lined up the three dies that die-cut the back and sides of the card base over pieces of white cardstock, and then I ran them through the Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. Next, I lined up the insert die over another piece of white cardstock and ran them through the die-cut machine. By the way, I repeated this step three times to die-cut not only one but three inserts from white cardstock.  

Thus, after finishing the die-cutting process for the die-cutting pieces, I folded over the edges of the die-cutting pieces with the scalloped design, and then I got them glued down to the lower front part of the larger die-cutting piece to create the sides of the card base.

So, as soon as I had finished adding the side pieces, I folded over the sides of one of the insert pieces, and then I got the sides glued down to the sides of the card base. The insert die adds up two scoring lines to indicate where to cut if you want to add a stepper effect to the pop-up mechanism, so I used the paper trimmer to trim off the first line from one of them, and then I used the paper trimmer to trim off the lines from the last die-cutting insert piece. Thus, after getting those insert dies trimmed off, I got them to glue down to the sides of the card base to complete the full pop-up effect.

Next, after getting the pop-up mechanisms assembled for the card base, I put it aside to continue with the die-cutting process for the tree, flowers, and leaves. Thus, as for the cardstock, I used Dark Yellow, Green, Orange, Pink, Gold, and Light Gray hues. So, right after that, I finished the die-cutting process for the tree, and the rest of the elements went ahead to putting it together and set it aside.

Moving on, even though the die set includes two dies that create the Happy Birthday sentiment however, I did not use them because I wanted to make a Thank You card instead, so for the die-cutting thank you, I used the dies included in the Flowering Tree Sentiments Etched Die Set along with white and gold cardstock. 

Lastly, after finishing the die-cutting step for the die-cutting thank you word, I started to get the card base embellished. Thus, I glued down the tree to the backside of the large insert. Next, I got the Thank word glued down to the medium insert, and lastly, I got the word you glued down to the backside of the smaller insert. Then, as finishing touches, I used some of the Gold Mix Color Essentials Gems to add a touch of sparkle to the flower centers. 

Finally, to get the card finished off, I added a second die-cutting piece to the backside to create a top folding card base so I could have a place to write a message. Other than that, you can see in the image above how the card looks from an upper view.
