Happy Friday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you a “Thank You” card made using SEP-2020 “Hello & Thank You” Small Die of the Month by Spellbinders. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step by step on how I made it ↓
To begin with, I started by painted 2 watercolor backgrounds as, I was going to use them to die-cut the flowers and greenery. So therefore, for the flowers I created a warm and colorful background using, Pinks, Orange and Yellow hues. Then, for the second background I used, a combination of different Green hues with a touch of Yellow.
Therefore, after I had the water-coloring done, I set the painted backgrounds aside to let them dry but, in the meanwhile I went ahead to lined up over a mirror gold cardstock the Thank die along with the letter dies to create the YOU word. Thus, after I had them lined up I went ahead to run them through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine to die-cut them out from the gold cardstock. So, once I had the gold die-cutting letter done, I repeated the same step 2 more times to die-cut them out of white cardstock.
Moving along, after I’ve finished die-cutting the letters out of the white cardstock, I stacked them all together to create dimension and once I had that step done, I set them aside and I continued with the die-cutting process for the floral and leafy frames. This month’s kit includes 2 frame dies which one die-cut just the leaves while the other die-cut a floral frame with leaves. With that said, it was such a hard decision to pick which one I was going to used so, instead of using only one I went ahead to combine them both creating that way a fuller frame. So, to keep going I went ahead to lined up the floral and leafy frame over the Green water-colored background and I ran them through the die-cut machine 2 times each to create both sides of the frames.
Lastly, after I was done die-cutting the frames I went ahead to lined up the small dies included in the kit to die-cut the floral pieces out the other water-colored background and once I had the floral die-cutting pieces done, I started the assembling for the card. So, for the assembling I trimmed the edges of a white card panel a bit smaller than the card base and once I had that done, I mounted it with craft foam and double-sided tape to add dimension over a side folding card base. Once, the card panel was mounted I went ahead to glued down with liquid glue the frames the, and right after I’ve glued down the frames, I went ahead to glue down with liquid glue each piece of the flowers and then, I glued down each of them around the frame (as shown in the image above) Finally, after I’ve had finish gluing the flowers, I used a ruler and a gold gel pen to trace a gold frame inside the frame and by following the dimension of the frame I went ahead to trace with a pencil a slightly smaller frame over a white cardstock piece. Once the tracing was completed, I used a pair of scissors to fussy cut the edges of the white frame and once I had that done I mounted the white frame inside the gold frame with foam mounting tape to add dimension. I hope this makes sense as I took a step further by doing this but trust me, it worth the effort as really add lot of dimension. So, to finish the card off I went ahead to glued down the Thank You die-cutting sentiment and last but not least, I glued down with liquid glue a combination of small jewels to add a touch of sparkle!!! With that said friends, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the step by step on how I’ve created this “Thank You” card using SEP-2020 “Hello & Thank You” Small Die of the Month by Spellbinders.
