Happy Thursday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you a set of handmade cards with a “Wintry/Snowy” theme made using NOV-2020 “Frankie Goes to the North Pole” Small Die of the Month by Spellbinders. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step by step on how I made them ↓
To begin with, I started by selecting one of the patterned papers from the paper pad included in NOV-2020 Card Kit of the Month. Next, I went ahead to trim the edges off from it and then , I went ahead to adhere the back of it over an A2 textured/side-folding white card base.
Once the patterned card panel was adhered to the card base, I’ve gone ahead to set it off to the side and then, I’ve gone ahead to die-cut frame with an opening to create a shaker window. Therefore, for the die-cutting frame I went ahead to line up over an A2 white card panel the 2 larger solid dies from Nestabilities Essential Rectangles Etched Dies Set and once I’ve had them line up, I’ve gone ahead to run them thru my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine.
Thus, after I’ve had finished die-cutting the frame, I’ve gone ahead to adhere with double-sided tape a piece of acetate to the back of the die-cutting frame so therefore, once I’ve had that step done, I’ve gone ahead to adhere pieces of craft foam tape to add dimension and then, I’ve set the frame off to the side. Meanwhile, I’ve gone ahead to line up over different pieces of color cardstock each die included in this month’s Small Die of the Month and once I’ve them line up, I’ve gone ahead to run them thru my die-cut machine.
Lastly, after I’ve had finished die-cutting each piece, I’ve gone ahead to carefully glue down each piece with liquid glue until I’ve completed the little snowman and embellishments. Therefore, after I’ve had finished assembling the snowman, I’ve gone ahead to draw with a pencil a wiggled line over a piece of white cardstock to simulate a hill. Thus, after I’ve finished drawing the line, I’ve used a small pair of scissors to fussy cut the simulated hill which right afterwards that I’ve finished that step, I’ve gone ahead to get it adhered over a water-colored card panel which I’ve had previously done using a mix of cool hues which I’ve had on my mixing palette. Last but not least, I’ve gone ahead to stamp and white heat emboss a sentiment on the upper right corner of the water-colored card panel and once I’ve had finished that step, I’ve gone ahead to adhere the backing of it over the card base. Finally, I went ahead to add a bit of glitter and a bit of artificial snow over the card panel using them as my shaker elements. Then, I’ve mounted the snowman (as shown in the image above) and to finish the card off, I’ve gone ahead to peel the backing of the craft foam tape and I’ve mounted the dimensional frame over the card.
NOTE: The sentiment is part of the stamp set included in November’s card kit.
The next example was much easier to make so therefore, I’ve gone ahead to use the dies one more time to die-cut the pieces to create a second snowman however, this time I’ve used the second expression because, I wanted to portrait the snowman going down the hill.
Therefore, I’ve gone ahead to ink up half of a white card panel using an ink blending brush and a combination of the following Distress Oxide Inks; Seedless Preserve, Faded Jeans, Wild Honey, Carved Pumpkin Festive Berries and Picked Raspberry. Thus, after I’ve had finished ink blending the card panel, I’ve gone ahead to trim the edges off and then, to get it adhere with double-sided tape over an A2 textured white card base.
This month’s die set also includes small dies which creates Pine or Christmas Tree plus, little rocks or little clouds or why not accumulating snow if you will. Therefore, I’ve gone ahead to die-cut the tree trunk out of dark Brown cardstock and the greenery out of Green cardstock. Thus, after I’ve had finished die-cutting the trees, I’ve gone ahead to assemble then and then, I’ve mounted each of them on each side of the card (as shown in the image above) along with the small die-cutting pieces which simulates accumulating snow underneath the trees. Lastly, to add a touch of sparkle and a wintry/snowy look, I’ve gone ahead to to do white splattering over the wintry sky and trees. Then, I’ve glued down the snowman and to finish the card off, I’ve gone ahead to mount a die cut shape and use it as the sentiment for the card. Last but certainly not least, I’ve gotten glue down with liquid glue some gold sequins and gold die-cutting stars on the top of each tree for a shiny gold look.
