Happy Wednesday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you these “Hello & Birthday” cards made using the AUG-2020 “Sitting Pretty” Small Die of the Month by Spellbinders. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step by step on how I made them ↓
To begin with, I started by creating the card base for the Hello square card so to that, I lined up over a large piece of white cardstock the 2 largest dies from the Elegant Twisted Etched Rectangle Die Set. Once, both dies were line up I ran them through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine therefore, once I had the die-cutting detailed card panel done, I went ahead to mount it with craft foam tape to a white square card.
So, after having the card base finished I set it aside and I went ahead to start the die-cutting using the dies included in Small Die of the Month kit. To create the die-cut pieces, I went ahead to lined up the 3 different die shapes included in the kit to die-cut them a few times out of the following cardstock colors: Sea Glass, Tropical Teal, Glitter Gold and White. Once, I had all die-cutting finished I stacked them to add dimension, and I glued them down with liquid glue over the card base (as shown in the image above) creating that way a beautiful focal point over the card panel.
Moving along, after I was done adhering the focal point pieces, I went ahead to die-cut the center piece using the die that is also included in the kit, and last but not least, I also went ahead to die-cut the alphabet letters out of white cardstock. (alphabet dies are also included in the kit) So, to finish the card off I glued down with liquid glue the center pieces, and then I created a dimensional strip piece using white and glitter gold cardstock on which I glued the white letters to create the sentiment. As, a finishing touch I glued down with liquid glue a combination of gold and pool jewels to add an extra touch of shine!
For the second example, I made an A2 standard size card so therefore, I started by creating the card panel and to do that I smooshed Tropical Ink using a large piece of acetate and water over a Strathmore Smooth Bristol Panel. So, after I had that step done I let the first layer of ink to get completely dry, and once it was dry I splattered more concentrated ink to add an extra pop of color even when it was the same hue.
So, while the splattering were drying, I went ahead to die-cut a few extra pieces so, I used the die that I used for the center piece on the first example to die-cut it out of white cardstock a few times, then I used the little flower dies included in the last month kit to die-cut the flowers out of the same color cardstock that I used to create the dimensional shape pieces. Lastly, I got the alphabet letters die-cut out of gold cardstock, and once I had all die-cutting pieces done I went ahead to start the assembling.
For the card assembling, I trimmed the edges down from the card panel and I adhered it down with double-sided tape to an A2 top folding white card base. Then, I glued down with liquid glue the dimensional shapes on the left side of the card followed by the white die-cutting pieces which I had glued the center on top of the other to create more dimension. Lastly, I glued down the gold die-cutting letters on the upper right side of the card with which I created the Happy Birthday sentiment, and to finish the card off I glued down with liquid glue the flowers, the top gold pieces for the dimensional shapes and the same combination of jewels to add an extra touch of Sparkle!
