Spellbinders August-2020 Card Kit of the Month┃Inspiration Cards

Happy Wednesday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’ll be sharing with you these 5 “Dimensional” cards made using Die Cut Shapes, Chipboard Stickers & Frames, Sequins and the Patterned Paper Pad included in August-2020 “Around the World” Card Kit of the Month by Spellbinders. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step by step on how I’ve created them ↓

As usual, I started by selecting the die cut shapes and patterned paper sheets that I was going to use to create the cards so therefore, I trimmed the edges off from one of the patterned papers a bit smaller than the card base, and I adhered the backing of it with the double-sided tape (included in the kit) to one of the A2 textured card bases which is also included in the kit.

Once, I had the card base ready I started the layering over the it so therefore, I lined up the circle die included in the kit over a piece of white cardstock and I ran them through the Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine to die-cut a circle out of it. Thus, once I’ve had that done I adhered the backing of it to the card and I created a cluster with some of the leaves and flower die cut shapes over it. Also, I went ahead to get adhere some of the butterfly die cut shapes in single form and a 3D one that I created mounting one on top of the other with dimensional square adhesives. Finally, to finish the card off I mounted with square adhesives a chipboard sticker as the sentiment for the card and as a finishing touch I glued down here and there sequins to add a touch of shine!

For the second example I created a portrait shaker card so therefore, I went ahead to trim the edges off from the selected patterned paper a bit smaller than the card base, and I adhered the backing of it with double-sided tape to one of the textured A2 white card bases. Then, I created a frame by lining up over one of white card bases and by die-cutting it out of it using 2 dies from the Nestabilities Candlewick Rectangles Etched Dies set and the die-cut machine.

Therefore, once I had the frame done, I went ahead to adhere a piece of acetate to seal the frame and I added lot of sequins over the card. Once, I had that done I mounted the frame using craft foam tape, and then right after that I glued down some of the flowers and leaves as well as other die cut shapes which I mounted using dimensional square adhesives creating a cluster with them. Last but not least, I stamped a sentiment on the upper right corner with embossing ink and I’ve gotten it white heat emboss with white heat embossing powder.

For the third example, I made Destination New York frame so, I once again I trimmed the edges off from one of the patterned papers and I adhered it to the card base. Then, I used the same dies that I previously use to die-cut a frame in the same way as the previous example however, this time I used one of the patterned papers instead of white cardstock.

So therefore, after I had the frame and card base done, I went ahead to get the buildings adhered over the card base using liquid glue and craft foam tape to add dimension. Lastly, I finished the card off, by mounting the van (as shown in the image above) and by adhering sticker and sequins.

For the fourth example, I created a shaker card as well using the die included in the kit so, I lined up the circle die over one of the patterned papers to get the inner layer for the globe then, I lined up the circle die and the inner die over a piece of white cardstock and I ran them through the die-cut machine to get the outer layer out of it. ( I repeated this step 5X to create a sturdy die-cut piece) So, once I had the die-cutting pieces done, I stacked them all and before I adhered the last I also adhered a acetate circle which I had previously die-cut using the circle die too. Lastly, I lined up the rest of the globe dies to get the pieces die-cut out of gold cardstock.

Therefore, once I had all pieces done I started the assembling for the card thus, I adhered a card pane using one of the patterned papers then, adhered the pieces for the globe with liquid glue and I got the globe adhered to the card as well as the other gold die-cutting pieces and the die cut shape word. By the way…I forgot to mention before about the sequins but so, as you can see, I used them as shaker elements and to add a touch of sparkle as I got 2of them glued down to the card panel.

For the fifth and last example, I used once again the dies included in the kit so, this time instead of using the inner globe die I used the palm trees for a ocean look. Therefore, I ran the dies through the die-cut machine 4X to get the ocean view die-cut out of Gold, Green, Navy Blue and Light Blue cardstock.

So, once I had that done, I also went ahead to get the rest of the die-cut pieces cut out of gold cardstock thus, after I had them all I started the assembling. For the assembling I trimmed the edges off from one of the patterned papers and I got it adhere with double-sided tape to the card base. Right after, I stacked the ocean circle die-cutting pieces a bit offset from the other to create dimension and a 3D effect then, I glued done the cloud with liquid glue and then I adhered the boat with square adhesives to add dimension. Lastly, I mounted the waves which I had previously die-cut out of Navy Blue cardstock, and last but not least I mounted a chipboard sticker and a die cut shape word as the sentiment for the card, and then as a finishing touch I glued down crystal clear sequins for an extra touch of sparkle!
