Slimline Slider Birthday┃Inspiration Card

Happy Friday, Friends! On today’s blog I’d like to share with you fun, yet extra glimmering and elegant slimline “Slider Birthday” inspiration card made using Spellbinders - Fluted Classics Slimline Etched Dies by Becca Feeken. Along with this set, I’m also using Yana's Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set for the card sentiments + Glimmering Butterflies Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set and Geometric Floral Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set to create the hot foil stamped frame and butterflies. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made it ↓

Therefore, this set includes 7 dies that which 4 of them cut a solid slimline panel and 3 of them which add up the detailed edge to the die-cutting card panels. Having that said, I went ahead to line up the 2 largest dies from the set over a large piece of white cardstock and then, I ran them through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine to cut the larger detailed card panel out of the cardstock.

Once, I’ve got finished die-cutting the larger panel, I went ahead to repeat the same steps, but this time to die-cut a smaller detailed card panel using the second to last solid and detailed dies from the same set.

Thus, as soon as I had finished doing that, I’ve gone ahead to use a ruler and a pencil to measure and trace the lines which I was going to cut out with an Xacto knife to create the slider mechanism.

So, to create the slider mechanism , I went ahead to mark 1.0” inch on the top and bottom from the smaller detailed panel. Next, at the 1.0” inch mark I went ahead to trace a line over the right and left sides of the detailed edge leaving 1/4” of an inch space on each side.

Next, I used the edge of my metal ruler and an Xacto knife to cut out over the traced lines from each side of the detailed panel. Once, I’ve got that done, I went ahead to get the bottom cut out as well. Then, as soon as I’ve got completed those steps, I used an eraser to erase any tracing lined created by the pencil and then, I went ahead to place the card panel over my Scoring Board to trace the scoring marks over the opening window so the slider mechanism could had fold up and down.

As for the scoring marks, I went ahead to mark the top side of the panel right where the cut-out lines start, then I went ahead to mark a second line leaving 2-1/4” inches from the first scoring line to the bottom of the cut-out window. Lastly, I went ahead to mark the last scoring mark to the bottom of the opening window leaving 3/4” of an each from the cutting line to the upper side of the opening window.

Moving on, right after that I’ve got finished marking the scoring lines and folding them over using my Teflon bond folder, I went ahead to put the slider panel off to the side while I’ve gone ahead to cut-out a smaller panel which I was going to use to place it under the slider mechanism. So, as soon as I’ve got finished cutting off the smaller panel, I went ahead to get it adhered edge to edge with the bottom fold from the slider mechanism using strong double-sided adhesive

Then, I kept both panel facing down onto place and then, I went ahead to adhere narrow pieces of craft foam adhesive to the sides and lower side of the panel but making sure not adding any adhesive to the cut-out openings. Therefore, after doing that, I went ahead to use a small circle puncher to create an opening on the upper side of the panel, and then I went ahead to peel off the backing of the adhesive and I’ve got the smaller panel mounted over the larger detailed panel.

Lastly, after getting the slider mechanism for the card finished, I went ahead to start the card embellishment, so to do that, I went ahead to get some hot foil stamping done for the butterflies, foliage, card sentiments and the geometrical frame.

For the hot foil stamping process, I used white cardstock along with Yana's Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set, Glimmering Butterflies Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set and Geometric Floral Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set. Also, I used pieces of Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Polished Brass and of course my Glimmer Hot Foil System Platform + Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine to complete the hot foil stamping process. So, once I’ve got the hot foil stamping process completed, I went ahead to fussy cut out the geometrical frame along with the foliage and then, I’ve got them partially glue down over the slider mechanism. However, I made sure to leave the folds free of adhesive so they could easy fold over and down.

Then, I used the dies to die cut the butterflies and then, I’ve got them mounted over the frame. Last but certainly not least, I went ahead to glue down one of the card sentiments under the bottom and another under the upper parts of the slider mechanism. Also, I’ve got mounted one out of the three card sentiments over the frame for a full surprise/peek-a-boo/slider/interactive birthday greeting card look and a piece of ribbon to make it easy to slide up and down, isn’t that so much fun!!??? Finally, to finish the card off, I went ahead to glue down here and there some Crystal Confetti to add an extra touch of shine to the card. And, with that being said, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the step-by-step for how I’ve made this fun, yet extra glimmering and elegant slimline “Slider Birthday” inspiration card using Spellbinders - Fluted Classics Slimline Etched Dies by Becca Feeken.
