Metamorphosis Collection By Simon Hurley┃Inspiration Cards

Happy Friday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share a set of colorful and dimensional inspiration cards made with a “Floral & Butterfly” look showcasing the latest; Metamorphosis Collection by Simon Hurley for Spellbinders. This collection includes Stained Glass Window Etched DiesIn Bloom Etched DiesBrilliant Butterflies Etched Dies, and Everyday Sentiments Etched Dies. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made them. ↓

Therefore, for the first example, I created an extra dimensional card with a pop-up effect using Stained Glass Window Etched Dies, Brilliant Butterflies Etched Dies, and Everyday Sentiments Etched Dies sets.

Thus, I lined up the stained glass insert and outer die over the cutting plates, and then, I ran them thru the Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine to cut out the die-cutting and detailed window from white cardstock. Next, I used the paper trimmer to trim down in 3-pieces the die-cutting window to create the layered stepper pop-up dimension for the card.

Then, after getting the die-cutting window trimmed down, I got the backing of the small and medium pieces glued down to 2 white cardstock pieces, and then I proceeded to trim off the excess cardstock to keep the original shape. Next, I got the backing of the arched pieces glued down to the upper center part of an A2 size top folding white card base. Lastly, I got the small and medium pieces attached to the card base using the paper spring technique to add dimension.

Thus, after getting those pieces attached, I used some of the inked panels I had previously created from white cardstock using the Ink Spray Bundle by The Stamp Market. That said, I lined up the solid butterfly dies included in Brilliant Butterflies Etched Dies to cut die-cut the butterfly's silhouettes from the inked panels and also from plain white cardstock. Then, I also used the insert dies to die-cut the detailed butterfly silhouettes from white cardstock.

After getting the die-cutting steps for the butterflies pieces, I assembled each butterfly, and then I got the backing of them glued down to the stepper card base, just like you can see in the image above. Followed by that, I used the Thanks die included in Everyday Sentiments Etched Dies to die-cut the shadow layer from translucent vellum and its top layer from white cardstock.

Once I finished the die-cutting for the sentiment, I added dimension to it by getting more layers glued down to it. Then, afterward, I glued it down to the lower right corner. Nevertheless, I added dimension to the

Nevertheless, I added a shiny dimension to the card sentiment using a combination of Glossy Accent and Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen. And last but not least, to get the card finished the card off, I also added some of the Rhinestones Sunlight Gold here and there using the Jewels Picker and Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue to get them glued down.

For the second example, I made a much simpler card with lots of dimension and color. Therefore, I used one of the inked panels as the card background, so I got the backing of it adhered to an A2 size top folding white card base using double-sided adhesive.

Next, I used the same die to die-cut a detailed window to create a second one, and I added dimension to it by getting a few layers glued down together. Then right after adding dimension to the window, I got its backing glued down to the card background.

Soon after getting that done, I created a die-cutting and dimensional butterfly and card sentiment, and I did it the same way as I did in the previous example, then I got them glued down to the card's front panel.

Last but not least, I added the same dimensional shiny look to the card’s sentiment, and I got the card finished off by getting some jewels glued down here and there.

For the last example, I let the butterflies aside to create a floral card. Thus, I used extra pieces of inked cardstock alongside the dies included in In Bloom Etched Dies to die-cut the blooms and their leaves and stems.

So, after getting the de-cutting step, I moved on to get the flowers assembled, and then I created a floral cluster with them and the die-cutting leaves.

Moving on, I put the floral cluster aside, and in the meantime, I added the die-cutting stained window detail to an A2 size white card panel using the insert die from the die set. Then, I trimmed off 1/8 of an inch from each side of the card panel using the paper trimmer, and then I got it mounted over an A2 size top folding white card base using Double Sided Adhesive Foam Strips to add a little bit of dimension.

Once I had finished adding dimension to the card background, I got the floral cluster mounted over the card’s front panel.

Then, I added metallic accents using gold cardstock and a shiny effect by adding jewels to the flower’s centers.

Also, as a finishing touch, I added the same dimensional shiny effect to the card's sentiment, and I added adding jewels here and there just like I did in the previous examples.

And with that said, friends, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the step-by-step for how I’ve made this inspirational set of colorful and dimensional inspiration cards with a “Floral & Butterfly” look showcasing the latest; Metamorphosis Collection by Simon Hurley for Spellbinders.
