Layton's Legacy Fundraiser

Layton's Legacy Fundraiser

Happy Tuesday, crafty friends! Today I’m honored to be part of the Layton’s Legacy Fundraiser & Card Drive. This blog post is dedicated in honor of remembrance of Lea Lawson’s son, Layton Caleb. The Layton’s Legacy Fundraiser & Card Drive is about to raise money to purchase a $50 Starbucks gift card for all 50 beds in the level 4 NICU at the U of M Masonic Children's Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. The fundraising will run from October 15th - November 10th. Shortly after we will purchase the gift cards and bring them to a social worker at the hospital the week of November 17th. As, this is the anniversary of the date that Lea lost Layton so, she couldn’t think of no better way to honor his memory than to give a small comfort to parents who find themselves thrust into NICU life.
Your support is very important because, if we raise in excess of the amount needed to purchase the gift cards, the remaining balance will be donated to the Upper Midwest Ronald McDonald house in Layton's name. You can check Lea’s blog post for more information by clicking → HERE
Besides the fundraiser mentioned above, Pinkfresh Studio will be donating $5 from every new released Forever in our Hearts Stamp Set which, is a special stamp set that is geared towards the loss of pregnancies, babies & children. With that being said, let me share with you two cards that, I’ve created with this very close to my heart stamp set ↓

As, I mentioned above to create these cards, I used the Forever in our Hearts Stamp Set so, for the first card I started by inking it up a Strathmore Bristol Smooth using; a cloud stencil and all four colors from the Starry Night Ink Cube Set + Sky Blue from the Morning Sky Ink Cube Set.

Once, the blue cloudy sky was created on the card panel, I ran through the die-cutting machine the card panel along with the largest stitched die from the Stitched Rectangles Die Set because, I wanted to create a little detail on the edges of the card panel. Soon after that, I adhered the backing of the card panel with foam mounting tape to a top folding A2 white card base. Then, I white heat embossed the butterfly from the Forever in our Hearts Stamp Set with Opaque Bright White Embossing on a piece of Translucent Vellum. Lastly, after the heat embossing, I ran through the die-cutting machine the heat embossed vellum along with the Forever in our Hearts Die Set which happens to be the coordinated die for the butterfly. To finish the card off, I adhered the backing of the butterfly to the card panel with liquid glue as, well as the beautiful sentiment which, I’ve gold heat embossed on a piece of white card stock with Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powder. As a finishing touch, I added lots of shimmer to the butterfly using the Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen and some Jewels Mix for a touch of sparkle.

For the second example, I white heat embossed the butterfly form the stamp set on a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper because, although I used the same color combination, I added a bit of water to spread the inks out on the butterfly. In the meantime, while the butterfly was drying, I ran through the die-cutting machine a white card panel along with the largest die from the Stitched Rectangles Die Set. Right after the card panel was die-cut it out of the card stock, I dropped some splatters using; the same color inks that, I used for the butterfly + gold splatters because, I wanted to add a bit of contrast. Right afterwards, I set the card panel aside to dry.

In the meanwhile, I ran through the die-cutting machine the butterfly along with its coordinated die first, to die-cut the butterfly out of the card stock and a second time to cut the butterfly out of foam because, I wanted to add dimension to it. Once, both die-cuttings were done, I stacked them together and I adhered the backing on the dimensional butterfly to the card panel. Lastly, I adhered the backing of the card panel to an A2 top folding white card base with double-sided tape and I adhered a sentiment that, I had previously gold heat embossed on a piece of white card stock. By the way this sentiment is also included in the stamp set.
