Full Bloom, Just Because Greeting Cards

Full Bloom, Just Because Greeting Cards

Happy Saturday Friends, on today’s blog I’d like to share with you these floral Just Because and Happy Birthday cards that, I’ve water-colored and heat embossed using; stamps, dies and ink pads by Pinkfresh Studio. So, without further ado, please keep on reading below ↓

For the first example, I started by placing over my stamping tool a large piece watercolor. Next, I treated the smooth surface side of the watercolor paper with lots of Embossing Powder Tool because, I was going to stamp the large bloom from the Full Bloom Stamp Set with WOW! Embossing Ink. Once, I had the bloom stamped, I removed the watercolor piece and I added Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder. Right after that, I heat set the powder with my WOW! Heat Embossing Gun Tool and, as soon as the powder was completely melted, I temporally tape down the watercolor cardstock to a clipboard because, I was going to slightly watercolor the full bloom.

To watercolor the full bloom, I used the following ink pads; Coral Reef Ink as my light color and Passion Fruit Ink as my dark color for the flowers. Then, I used; Fresh Pear Ink as my light color and Olive Ink Pad as my darkest color for the foliage and leaves. Once, I was done water-coloring the bloom, I set the clipboard aside and I lots of splattering on a watercolor card panel.

For the splattering, I used the same colors that I used to water-colored the bloom plus; Key Lime Ink and MS Metallic Gold Acrylic Paint. After adding the splattering, I set the card panel aside and I came back to the bloom that was already dry by that time. So, I removed the bloom from the clipboard and I ran it though my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine along with the Full Bloom Die Set to die-cut the bloom out from the watercolor cardstock. Lastly, I ran though the die-cutting machine the largest die from the Essentials: Diagonal Stitched Rectangles Die Set along with the splattered card panel first; to die-cut it out from the watercolor cardstock and second; to add the diagonal details to the edges of it. So, once the card panel was done, I foam mounted it to an A2 top folding white card base. Finally, to finish the card off, I foam mounted the full bloom image, as well as the sentiment which, I had gold-heat embossed on a leftover piece of watercolor cardstock.

For the second example, I created 5 subtle color swathes using a 3/4’’in size watercolor brush. To create the swatches, I pressed down over my glass mat the following ink pads; Ballet Slipper Ink, Ocean Breeze Ink , Mint Ink Pad, Coral Reef Ink Pad and Meadow Ink. Once, I had the inks on the mat, I carefully taped down a watercolor card panel to my mat and added lots of water to my brush. Right after, I picked the colors up with the brush from the mat to transfer them to the watercolor card panel. So, after I had the first swatch transferred, I repeated the same step until, I had all colors on the card panel.

To keep it simple while, I was letting the swatches dry, I placed inside my stamping tool a large piece of heavy weight translucent vellum and I gold heat embossed once again the full bloom over it. Right after the heat embossing, I ran through the die-cutting machine the heat embossed images along with the coordinated die to die-cut it out from the vellum.

Lastly, I ran though the die-cutting machine the card panel along with the same rectangle die that, I used on the previous example to add the details on the edges of the card panel. Once, I had the die-cutting pieces done, I added a few gold splatters to the card panel, and I foam mounted it to an A2 top folding white card base. To finish the card off, I adhered the full bloom to the card with Kool Tack Clear Foam. Last but not least, I adhered with foam mounting tape the sentiment which, I had gold heat embossed on a leftover piece of watercolor cardstock.

For my last example, I basically created a smooshed ink background panel by picking the leftover inks that were on my glass math then, I added gold splatters.

While, I was waiting for the ink smooshing to dry, I ran through the die-cutting machine the; Foliage Frame Die to die-cut it 2X out of white cardstock. Once, both die-cutting frames were done, I turn one upside down and I adhered the skinny frame with liquid glue on top of the other. By doing that, not I only created dimension but, I also created movement by leaving the foliage without adhesive.

Lastly, I set the frame aside and I ran through the; Sentiment Suit: Happy Birthday Die to die-cut the top layer out of glitter cardstock and its shadow layer out of translucent vellum. Finally, to finish the card off, I adhered the foliage to the ink smooshed background, and I adhered the backing of it with double-sided tape to an A2 top folding white card base followed by the Happy Birthday which, I had stacked previously after the die-cutting process.

NOTE: The sentiments used on the first and second examples are from the; Just Because Stamp Set. To create them first; I lined up the Just because on my stamping tool. Second; I lined up underneath a smaller sentiment from the same stamp set and I gold heat emboss them. To change things a little bit, I removed the small sentiment, and I replaced it with other from the same stamp set. By doing that, I created 2 Just because card yet, with 2 different meanings. I hope this makes sense to you and most of all that you find it helpful as, by making little adjustments you’ll be surprise on how much more you can create at once.
