Botanical & Geometric Framed Greeting Cards

Botanical & Geometric Framed Greeting Cards

Happy, Tuesday Crafters! On today’s blog, I’ll be sharing with you how I’ve made these simple Botanical & Geometric Framed Cards inspired by the new March-2020 Frame it Challenge by Pinkfresh Studio. So, without further ado, let’s jump into the blog post ↓

To begin with, I started by ink blending a Strathmore 300 Series Bristol Smooth card panel with the following inks; Sunshine, Mint, Ocean Breeze, Ballet Slipper and Coral Reef. To create the lines first; I placed over my glass mat the card panel. Second, I temporally adhered to the card panel 3 pieces of 1’’in. masking tape leaving 1’’in. in between each section. Third, right after when I was done ink blending the first 3 sections, I carefully removed the masking tape, and I placed over the ink blended lines leaving uncovered the lines without ink. To finish the ink blending, I inked up the last 2 sections, and last but not least, I removed the masking tape from the card panel revealing the 5 inked sections.

Right after when the ink blending process was finish, I set the card panel aside and I started the die-cutting part. For the die-cutting, I ran through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine the dies from the Botanical Diamond Die Set to die-cut 3X each of them out of white cardstock. Once the die-cutting pieces were done, I stacked them with liquid glue and I adhered them down also with liquid glue to 2-corners of a pre-made frame card base from my (Photo Frame Cards & Envelopes set) Lastly, I placed the inked card panel inside my stamping tool because, I was going to gold heat emboss the geometric design from the Abstract Cube Background Stamp. So therefore, I proceeded to prep the card panel with Embossing Powder Tool and to stamp the image with WOW! Embossing Ink. Lastly, after the stamping, I removed the card panel and I added Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powder. Soon after that, I heat set the powder with my Heat Embossing Gun Tool until the powder was completely melted. Finally, to finish the card off, I trimmed the edges off from the card panel and I inserted it to the framed card base. As for the sentiment, at first I thought about adding a small sentiment which, I have gold heat embossed on a piece of white cardstock but, then I realized that wasn’t standing out so instead, I decided to white heat emboss a sentiment over a piece of Crystal Clear Film. By doing that not only I made the sentiment to stand out but also, I created a clear dimension once the clear film was insert it in the framed window card base.

For the second example, I gold heat embossed the floral image from the Enchanted Blooms Background Stamp over a Strathmore 300 Series Bristol Smooth. The heat embossing process was as usual (prep, stamp and heat emboss) So therefore, after the heat embossing, I used the same color combination that I used for the previous example however but, instead of using the inks to ink up the card panel, I used the inks to loosely watercolor the flowers and leaves. So, once the water-coloring was finished, I set the card panel aside to dry.

Meanwhile, I lined up over a white card panel the 2 largest dies from my Stitched Rectangle Dies Set and I secure them with a piece of washitape. Next, I carefully transferred them to my die-cutting plate, and I ran them through to create not only one but 2 stitched frames because, I was planning on make a framed shaker card. To create the shaker first; I placed upside down one of the stitched frames. Second, I placed inside my stamping tool a large piece of Crystal Clear Film and I gold heat embossed a sentiment over it. Third, I trimmed the edges off from the crystal film panel, and I adhered it down with the sentiment facing down with skinny double-sided tape to the stitched frame. Once the film was adhered to the first frame, I adhered skinny pieces of foam mounting tape to the film to raise the level between both frames.

Then, I peeled off the backing of the foam mounting tape, and I adhered the second frame. Lastly, to enclosed the shaker panel, I added lots of Crystal Confetti then, I trimmed the edges off from the water-colored card panel, and I carefully adhered with liquid glue the water-colored card panel facing down to the frame. Finally, to finish the card off, I flipped the shaker panel over, and I adhered it to the card base with double-sided tape.
