3-Dimensional Floral Border┃Inspiration Card

Happy Sunday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’m sharing with you an extra-dimensional inspirational card made with a “Floral Border” look using the Floral Border Hot Foil, Floral Border Stencil, Floral Border Die, and Floral Border Stamp. Along with this beautiful set, I also used Essentials: Fancy Diagonal Stripes Die to add more dimension and texture to the card background plus, PFS- Inks to add colors to the floral frame. So, without further ado, let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made it ↓

Therefore, I started by getting the hot foil stamping done over a large piece of white cardstock, so to do that, I used the Floral Border Hot Foil along Glimmer Hot Foil System Platform and Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine and a large piece of satin champagne glimmer roll from the Glimmer Hot Foil 4 Rolls - Satin Metallics Variety Pack.

Next, after I got the hot foil stamping done for the floral border, I placed the cardstock with the hot foil stamped image over my Glass Craft Mat, and then I proceeded to use each stencil included in the Floral Border Stencil coordinating set to add pops of color to the flowers and leaves. Thus, to get the floral border inked up, I used a few ink blending brushes along with the following ink hues; Coral Reef Ink and Passion Fruit Ink for the red flowers. Peach Fuzz Ink and Apricot Ink for the small flowers. Sunshine Ink and Sweet Mustard Ink for the yellow flowers plus, Marigold Ink and Clementine Ink for the flower’s centers. And lastly, Grassy Knoll Ink with a touch of Olive Ink for the leaves.

Thus, after getting the inking done for the floral border, I went ahead to put it aside to create one large and dimensional paper spring, so to do that, I went ahead to use my Paper Trimmer to trim down a white cardstock piece to W 5.0 x H 11.0 inches. Next, I placed the cardstock pieces with the longest side vertically over the Scor-Pal Eighths to trace over it some scoring lines at 1.0, 1-1/2, 2.0, 3.0, 3-1/2, and 4.0 inches. By the way, I used the standard Teflon bone folders from the Craft Treat Teflon Bone Folder set. So, after adding the scoring lines to the cardstock piece, I went ahead to fold them over in a mountain, valley, and mountain on each side, then I got the 1.0-inch ends glued together and reinforced the folds using the side of the bone folder. You can have an idea of how the fold looks by looking at the image above.

Moving on, as soon as I had finished getting the large paper spring, I went ahead to put it aside, and then, I used the Floral Border Die to cut out the floral border from the cardstock piece. Once, I had that step done, I used a sharp pair of scissors to cut out smaller paper springs of different sizes from the large one, and then I got used Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue to get them glued down to the back of the floral border, in a way that you can see in the image above.

Here is a side view for you to see the amount of dimension that the paper springs add to the floral border as if it was a shadow box but without using a whole rectangular dimension or any craft foam adhesive. And even better by doing this way you still will be able to fit this card after is finished inside an A2 size envelope. That being said, after adding the paper springs to the floral border, I went ahead to put it aside to get the die-cutting card background cut from white cardstock using the Essentials: Fancy Diagonal Stripes Die.

So, for the card sentiment, I used one of the card sentiments included in the Floral Border Stamp, and then I used the MISTI Mini Stamp Tool along with a small piece of white cardstock, Magic Powder Bag, and Embossing Ink for the stamping plus, Metallic Embossing Powder- Gilded and Wow Dual Speed Heat Tool for the heat embossing process. Also, I used the coordinating die included in the die set to cut the card sentiment from the cardstock along with a few more to make it dimensional.

Due to the dimension of the flora border and the dainty size of the card sentiment, I needed something to support and hold into place the card sentiment in the center of the card, so to do that, I used a strip of acetate with the following measurements; W 3-1/2 x H 3/4. Then, I got the sides of the acetate strip glued down to the back side of the center part of the floral frame.

Lastly, after getting the piece of acetate glued down to the floral frame, I went ahead to get the card assembling started. Thus, I went ahead to glue down the die-cutting card background to the front part of an A2 size top folding white card base. Next, I got the floral border glued down over the front card background. And lastly, I got the card assembling finished by getting the card sentiment glued down over the piece of acetate.
