Whimsical and Wild Collection by Jane Davenport┃Friendship Inspiration Cards

Happy Tuesday, Friends! On today’s blog post, I’ll be sharing with you these 2 “Friendship” cards that, I’ve created showcasing stamps from the Whimsical and Wild Collection by Jane Davenport. So, without further ado, here are the step by step on how I made them ↓

To begin with, I started by placing inside my stamping tool a Strathmore 400 Series Watercolor panel. Next, after I had it into place I placed over it the large image from the Panda Thank You Clear Stamp Set, and I got it stamp with Detail Black Ink. Right after, that I had the stamping done, I removed the card panel as well as the large image from my stamping tool, and I repeated the same steps to stamp a second card panel, but this time I used the large image from the Purr-fect Cat Clear Stamp. Therefore, while I was waiting for the ink to get dry, I created the color pallet that I was going to use for the water-coloring using, my Watercolors Set Brights ArtEssentials by Jane Davenport. So, after I was happy with the color mixing, I water-colored the first card panel using cool tones, and I set it aside to dry.

Meanwhile, I water-colored the Panda with Black and a touch of Purple, as well as the Girl which, I water-colored with Pink, Turquoise, Brown and Skin hues. Once, I had the water-coloring done I fussy cut the entire image with small Scissor and an Xacto Knife because, I wanted to add dimension. So, after I got the fussy cutting done, I set it aside, and I came back to the card panel to start the assembling for the card. For the assembling, I trimmed the edges down from the card panel a bit smaller than the card base, and I mounted the card panel with foam double-side tape to an A2 top folding white card base. Then, I mounted the fussy cutting image to the card.

Lastly, I put the card inside my stamping tool, and I finished the card off by stamping the largest sentiment from the stamp with black ink on the lower left side of the card.

For the second example, I water-colored the card panel with warm hues. So therefore, after I got the water-coloring done on the card panel, I set it aside and I started the water-coloring for the stamped image. As, for the water-coloring for the image, I kept it simple by using, Skin, Brown and Purple-Grey hues.

Moving on, after I had the water-coloring done, I repeated the same steps by mounting the card panel and by fussy cutting the image just like I did for the first example.

Therefore, after I got the card panel and the images mounted over the card base, I finished the card off by stamping a sentiment with black ink on the top left corner.

Lastly, I embellished the cards by stamping 2 hearts on both side of the Panda Thank You card, and by gluing down with liquid glue a rose which I water-colored and fussy cut it out of watercolor cardstock. As for the Purr-fect Cat card, I glued down the bow with liquid glue and tiny pieces of foam square adhesives over her head. Finally, to finish both cards off I added a pop of color to her faces and I added Glossy Accent to add dimension to their lips, also to the rose, head pieces, shoes and eyes. Last but not least, I added shimmer to their hair using Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen, and I glue down Crystal Confetti here and there to complement the shine!
