Watercolor Greeting Cards
Yay… hello friends, the new CELEBRATE YOU release by Simon Says Stamp it’s finally here! And, today I’m featuring six out of the twelve brand new Suzy’s watercolor cards. This is the absolutely perfect set for the upcoming Father’s day celebration. So, without further ado keep on reading the blog! ↓
To begin with for all six cards I used the Zig Clean Color as my color media. So, for the cards with the boots & hat I used the following colors:
‒ Brown
‒ Light Brown
‒ Dark Brown
Once, I was done water coloring the boots & the hat I added a light blue shadow around the whole image to make the Brown color pop, and I set it aside to dry. In the meanwhile, I used:
‒ Black
‒ Scarlet Red
‒ Red
To watercolor the tie for the second card, then I used the same Light Blue color to add a little bit of shadowing around the tie making the colors pop. As, for the sentiment I decide to color the thickest letters to balance the Black color out. And, right after I colored the hearts with Red.
Right afterwards when both card panels were dry, I trimmed each of their edges a little bit smaller than a A2 size card base, and I adhered the backed of each of them to a white folding card base with foam mounting tape.
To finish both cards off, I decided to add highlights using a white gel pen. Plus a little bit of glossy accent to the each of the hearts, and to the following parts of the boots: side welts, pullstraps, and closure straps for a glossy dimensional look.
For the second set I used a combination of Blue & Grays, so to begin with I started by using the following colors for the Trophy’s base, and the metal parts from the tools.
‒ Cool Gray
‒ Pale Gray
‒ Gray
To color the handles of every tool, and the bold letters from the sentiment I used the following colors:
‒ Black
‒ Blue
For the Greenery part I used the following colors:
‒ Olive Green
‒ Mid Green
‒ Deep Green
‒ Pale Rose
For the shadow coloring I used:
‒ Orange
Once, the cards were watercolored, and dry I trimmed the edges of the tools card down, and I adhered the backed of it to an A2 side folding white card base with foam mounting tape. Then, for the second I fussy cut out of the card panel the trophy. Because, I wanted to add a little dimension, and a piece of Metallic Silver Thread as you can see in the picture above. Finally, to finish the second card off I adhered the trophy to an A2 side folding white card base, and I added a few highlight using a white gel pen.
So, for the last two cards I decided to go for a colorful set. For the one with the Boat card I decided to watercolor a sunset using the following colors:
‒ Blue
‒ Dull Blue
‒ Cornflower Blue
‒ Light Blue
‒ Scarlet Red
‒ Orange
‒ Bright Yellow
For the Guitar card I basically used the same combination, however I added Deep Blue to color the letters. To finish both cards off I trimmed all of the edges down from each of the cards, and I adhered each of them to a side folding white card base. As, a finishing touched I added a few highlight here and there, and glossy accent to the clouds and the Sun.
