A Note To Make You Smile 3D Typewriter┃DOML FEB-2022 Shaped Card

Happy Sunday, Friends! On today’s blog I’d like to share with you a fun and interactive “Typewriter” shaped inspiration card made with a 3D pop-up effect showcasing; February’s 2022 “Typing Class” Large Die of the Month Club Kit by Spellbinders. Along with it, I’ve also used this month’s Glimmer Hot Foil Kit Of The Month Club Kit to add the sentiment for it. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made it ↓

Therefore, this month’s Large Die of the Month Club Kit includes twenty-two dies thus, I went ahead to line up the one that cut out the typewriter over a piece of light pink cardstock and then, I proceeded to run them through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. By the way, I repeated this step twice, as I wanted to cut out the front and back for the typewriter.

Having that said, as soon as I’ve had finished die-cutting both pieces, I’ve gone ahead to put them off to the side, so I could go ahead to trim down the small pieces of cardstock that I was going to use on both side of the typewriter. As for those pieces, I went ahead to trim them down to H 2-1/2” x W 2.0” inches. Next, I placed each of them with the 2.0” width down over my Scoring Board to trace a scoring line at 1/2 of an inch on both side of each cardstock piece.

Next, I went ahead to fold the scoring lines over using my Teflon bone folder and then, I put them off to the side. Meanwhile, I went ahead to trim down three small cardstock pieces using the same color cardstock to H 2-1/2” x W 3.0” inches. Then, I went ahead to place each of them with the 3.0” width over my scoring board to trace a scoring line at 1/2 inch on each side of each of them.

Moving on, I went ahead to get the scoring line fold over and then, I proceeded to get the pop-up and interactive effect assembled for the typewriter. So, to do that, I went ahead to get the side pieces adhered with strong double-sided adhesive to the typewriter’s front and back, leaving 2-1/2 inches of space between them. Next, I went ahead to get the other three pieces adhered inside the typewriter using strong double-sided adhesive as well, leaving 1/2 of an inch of space in between them. As shown in the image above.

Once, I had the interactive and pop-up effect assembled to it, I went ahead to put the typewriter off to the side, so I could get the die-cutting for the flowers and leaves done using the dies including in the kit. To keep it simple, I used light and dark pink hues for the flowers along with gold cardstock to add a gold accent to them. Then, I used light and dark green hues along with gold cardstock to add gold accents to the greenery as well.

Lastly, I went ahead to put together the flowers and once I had that done, I proceeded to get them glue down inside the walls that I created inside the typewriter to create the pop-up or explosion effect if you will. So, as soon as I had that step done, I’ve gone ahead to cut out the typewriter’s keyboard and its accents pieces from white and gold cardstock. Also, its right and left platen knobs using white and gold cardstock as well.

Finally, I went ahead to get the keyboard and platen knobs assembled and then, I’ve gone ahead to get them adhered to the typewriter. Then, as a finishing touch, I went ahead to glue down some gold jewels to add a touch of sparkle along with the sentiment. A sentiment, which I’ve had previously created using one of the glimmer plates including in this month’s Glimmer Hot Foil Kit Of The Month Club Kit and of course, a piece of Glimmer Hot Foil Roll - Polished Brass and my Glimmer Hot Foil System Platform for the hot foil stamping process.

And, with that being said, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading the step-by-step for how I’ve made this fun and interactive “Typewriter” shaped inspiration card with a 3D pop-up effect showcasing; February’s 2022 “Typing Class” Large Die of the Month Club Kit by Spellbinders.
