Modern Happy Birthday Banner And Matching Card With Pocket┃Project Inspiration

Happy Tuesday, Friends! On today’s blog, I’d like to share with you a very dimensional “Happy Birthday” banner that, I created with a floral and modern look along with a matching card with a pocket very conventional to hold up the banner when not in use but not only that, as it also displays very cute inside its pocket with all the elements created on the matching card. Thus, to make them I’ve used: Art Deco Layering Stencils to ink up the front card panel, Art Deco Hot Foil Plate not to foil but to add texture. Also, Artistic Blossoms Die for the floral touch, Kelly Alpha Upper Case Die Set to create the detailed letters, Essentials: Shaker Tags and Foldable Shaker Tags Die Set to create the banner pieces, Scripted Greetings Dies for the layered celebrate word and lastly, PFS- Inks to add the pop of colors. So, without further ado let’s jump right into the step-by-step for how I made it ↓

Therefore, this project required a little extra die-cutting process so, I went ahead to start off by lining up over a large piece of white cardstock the smaller tag including in Essentials: Shaker Tags and then, I proceeded to run them through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine. This tag cut out and add up stitching details to the outer and inner sides of the cut which, it could be useful if you want to use the negative and positive pieces to make than one project. Having that said, for this project I used only the inner part of the die-cutting tag thus, to be exact, I’ve gone ahead to cut out 13 tags from plain white cardstock.

Next, I used the letter dies including in Kelly Alpha Upper Case Die Set to cut out the letter to create the Happy Birthday greeting for the banner. As for the letters, I went ahead to cut out each of them 3X from plain white cardstock and 1X out of holographic cardstock because, I wanted to keep it subtle but with a touch of shine at the same time. Having that said, after getting the die-cutting process done for the letters, I went ahead to layer them up and then, I added the holographic shadow to them as well. Once, I’ve had finished layering the up, I went ahead to get each of the letter glue down over each tag which in this case I’m using them as banner pieces.

Although this set does not includes a hole reinforcement die. I went ahead to use one of the dies from Foldable Shaker Tags Die Set to cut them out from the same holographic cardstock that I used for the letters. Thus, I went ahead to glue down the hole reinforcements right afterwards that I’ve had finished die-cutting them all and then, I used a piece of narrow white ribbon to tie the banner together. If happens that you re-create this project, you can go ahead and add the ribbon to create a long banner or to divided it in two words. Or if happens that you’re gifting it, you can add a large piece of ribbon on the side for the recipient can hang the banner up when he/she desires to do so. And, just as simple as that you have a happy birthday banner although this banner has a white-on-white look with a few metallic accents from the holographic cardstock possibilities are endless as you can go creative with it by adding a colorful or rainbow look to it.

Moving on, to make the matching card with a pocket, I went ahead to use the larger and smaller dies from Essentials: Folk Edge Rectangles Die Set to cut out and add the decorative edges to two white card panels. Next, I used the larger standard die to cut out a solid white card panel and then, I used Art Deco Layering Stencils to ink up the solid die-cutting panel using an ink blending brush along with a combination of Misty Coast Ink and Rocky Slope Ink.

Then, while I was letting the ink to settle into the paper, I went ahead to add texture to a white card panel using Art Deco Hot Foil Plate which happens to be the coordinating design for the layered stencil set. Once, I’ve had finished adding the texture to the card panel, I’ve gone ahead to put it off to the side to go ahead to cut out the blossom die-cutting pieces from white cardstock using the dies including in Artistic Blossoms Die. As for the die-cutting blossoms, I decided to add a pop of color but with a modern look using non-traditional hues so, to do that, I used Passion Fruit Ink, Clementine Ink, Misty Coast Ink, and Rocky Slope Ink.

Thus, as soon as I’ve had finished inking up the the blossoms, I went ahead to put them off to the side to let the ink settle into the cardstock. Meanwhile, I went ahead to create the card pocket so to do that, I went ahead to trim down with my Comfort Paper Trimmer a large piece of white cardstock with the following measurements H 4.0” x W 6-1/2. Then, I placed it over my Scoring Board with the wider side horizontally and then, I used the standard Teflon bone folder including in Craft Treat Teflon Bone Folder to trace a few scoring line at the following marks: 1/2, 1-1/4, 5-1/4, 6.0 and 6-1/2 inches. Lastly, I turned vertically the cardstock and then, I’ve got traced two scoring lines at the following marks: 1/2 and 1-1/4 inches.

Lastly, right after that I’ve had finished adding all scoring line over the cardstock, I proceeded to fold then over and then, I fussy cut out the fold edges with a pair of scissors to create a boxed closure to the bottom of the pocket. Nevertheless, I went ahead to get the backing of the inked card panel adhered with double-sided adhesive to the large decorative panel. Then, I’ve got glued down the bottom, right side, and left side of the pocket to the card to it and as soon as, I had that step completed, I got the embellishment for the card started. So, for the card embellishments, I went ahead to glue the smaller decorative white card panel but in a landscaping form. Next, I went ahead to texture to it by adding part of the dry emboss looking card panel, I tried my best to get as closer I could get to follow the pattern from the inked card panel for a continuous look. Lastly, I created a floral cluster with the inked blossoms and I’ve got it glue down to the left side of the card pocket and then, to add an extra celebration look, I went ahead to create a layered celebrate word using the dies including in Scripted Greetings Dies which, soon after that I’ve had created it, I’ve got it glue down to the lower right side of the card pocket.

Finally to finish it off, I decided to add a touch of Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen and Glossy Accent to the center of the large blossom and also, I added white jewels to another blossom. And, that’s how the banner look inside the decorative pocket that I made over the matching card.
