Make a Wish Upon a Starfish Card
Hello Friends! I hope everything is well with you. On Today's Blog I would love to share with you how I created the first Mermaid Card featuring the September 2018 Card Kit by Simon Says Stamp. for this card I used the ink blending technique for my background along with copic markers as my coloring media. So, Let's get started!
Background
For the background I started by inked it up an A2 standar size piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth Surface paper with Tim Holtz distress oxides inks. I started from the bottom to the top with Fade Jeans followed by Blueprint Sketch and to finish it up with Salty Ocean. In the meantime I started the stamping while the inks were drying out.
stamping
To begin with I started by stamping with Black Ink in a piece on Neenah Classic Crest 80lb Solar White cardstock 2 of the images from the stamp set that came with the card kit. Although, you can purchase the stamp set individually along with the coordinated dies. Then, I waited a few minutes for the coloring.
Coloring
For the coloring media I used Copic Markers Here are the colors that I used
E00, E02, E11, E13, E23, E25, E29 E51
V12, V15, V17
BG13, BG18
As, a copic coloring learner is kind of hard to explain how exactly I colored the mermaid. But, I added the color list for you. So, you know the color that I used.
Inks and heat embossing
After, the inked background was dry I used a stencil to create the underwater scene. Along with the stencil I used the Versacolor pigment white ink creating the rays on top of the background. Then, I heat embossed 3 of the coral images with a Clear Embossing Pad and Mermaid Blue embossing powder. Also, I white heat embossed one of the sentiments with Fine Detail White embossing powder on the right side of the panel as you can see in the picture down below.
layout
For the layout, I adhered the backed of the inked panel to a Neenah Classic Crest 110lb Solar White card base. Then, I adhered the backed of the colored mermaid with foam tape to the card panel. And, to finish it up I adhered a few Gold Sequins here and there for embellishment.
Your imagination is Your limit.
I hope you get Inspired and give this design a try! Just keep in mind, that you can create the same design with any combination of color media, stamps, background stamps or stencils.
Thank You, your time is valuable. Don't forget to spread kindness, Today and Always.
Best,
Yasmin
