So, without further ado, please keep on reading this blog post. ↓
To begin with, I started by running through the die-cut machine the Joy Die along with pieces of heavy weight white card stock, I die-cut the Joy word 4X out of white card stock and, 2X out of fun foam. Once, the die-cutting pieces were done, I stacked 2 whites and, 1 fun foam die-cuttings for each of the words because, I wanted sturdy dimensional words. Next, on my mixing pallet, I mixed a small amount of Gold Rush Sparkle Powder from the WOW! EP All That Glitters Set with Transparent Gloss Texture Paste until, I had the right consistency. Then, I carefully coated one of the Joy die-cuttings by spreading the mixing over with a craft spatula until the whole die-cutting surface was covered. Once, the die-cutting coating was done, I set the die-cutting aside to dry. In the meantime, because I had left a quite amount of sparkly mixing to create a distress card panel, I decided to grab and adhere temporarily the Mesh Stencil to a Strathmore Bristol Smooth and I applied over the stencil the leftover sparkly mixing using a craft spatula but, without being precise as, I mentioned earlier. Lastly, I carefully removed the stencil from the card panel and I set it aside to dry.
NOTE: It is really important to clean immediately stencils, craft knives, craft spatulas, mixing pallets etc., before the mixing gets dry to avoid damages to any of your crafting tools.
So, while the embossing mixing was drying, I clear heat embossed the second Joy die-cutting with Clear Gloss Embossing Powder for a shiny look. Next, I treated with Embossing Powder Tool another Strathmore Bristol Smooth and I temporarily adhered the Falling Snow Stencil to it so, I could white heat emboss the background which, you’ll see below. To white heat emboss the snow first; I pushed through the stencil Embossing Ink creating that way a sticky surface then, I removed the stencil from the card panel and, I added Opaque Bright White Embossing soon after that, I heat set the powder until was completely melted with the Heat Embossing Gun Tool.
Once, the falling snow was white heat embossed, I diluted a drop of Rose Gold Acrylic Paint, a drop of Acrylic Confetti Glitter Paint and, a drop of Licorice Liquid Watercolor with water because, I wanted to add gold splatters and, a wintry look effect with the light gray watercolor mixing to the card panels.
Here’s a closer, it might seem messy but, the splatters and the touch of light gray makes the sparkles pop even more from both card panels.
As, you can see after adding gold splatters and that touch of light gray water coloring to both card panels, I trimmed the edges slightly smaller than their card bases as usual and, I adhered the backing of each card panel to a top folding Kraft card base with double-sided tape. Then, I ran through the die-cut machine the shadow layer of the Joy die to die-cut 2X out of Translucent Vellum. Once the die-cuttings were done, I adhered each of the dimensional Joy die-cuttings to them with liquid glue and soon afterwards, I adhered the backing of each Joy to the cards as you can see above. To finish the cards off, I adhered with foam mounting tape the sub-sentiments which, I had previously gold heat embossed on a piece of white card stock. As, for the sentiments I used; Joy Stamp Set and Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powder last but certainly not least as a finishing touch, I decided to adhere a chunky jewel as the tittles of the J’s for an extra touch of sparkle. With that being said, that’s all for today friends, I hope that these extra glittery cards inspire you to give them, and the “Emboss Resist” challenge a try!
